My dad passed away a month ago. He never fully understood what I was doing in grad school.
I found this notebook a few days after he passed. He always cared and he was always trying to understand.
Check out our new article!
• #cognitivedisengagementsyndrome (CDS) symptoms were significantly associated with negative interpretation bias
• Negative interpretation bias moderated the association between CDS and caregiver-reported depressive symptoms
In this #OpenAccess paper, Melissa C. Miller (@CincyChildrens) et al. examined whether negative interpretation bias exacerbated the association between cognitive disengagement syndrome and depressive symptoms. https://t.co/P75UTMdHyw
Incredible fun to welcome Dr. @melissadvorsky and her team from @ChildrensNatl to @CincyChildrens for a cross-site meeting as we launch our new @IESResearch grant focused on resilience & sex differences in students with #ADHD as they transition from elementary to middle school!
@ChronisAndrea@spbecker So thankful to have had YOU as a mentor during my STP years, @ChronisAndrea! Now 10 years later, I had the opportunity to help with training for the Cincy STP!
Incredible work coming from Dr. Melissa Miller, one of our postdoctoral fellows, who recently published an article in Journal of Attention Disorders finding that cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS) symptoms are associated with maladaptive problem solving in young adults!
Really excited about my first manuscript from my postdoctoral work - a narrative review of the pathways through which non-genetic factors (i.e., social-environmental factors/social determinants of health/SDOH) influence IQ in people with syndromic IDDs. Some brief thoughts:
Great talk today by @kkdubstep3 on possible place for mindfulness for teens with ADHD + cognitive disengagement syndrome! Terrific work, and much more to do!
@_KellyOC I also had to take out considerable loans for a program with guaranteed 12 m funding for each year. (I prefer not to use “fully funded” bc I think it is misleading.) I can’t imagine the horrible debt I would be in if I were to go to a program with less funding.
In related news, have finished the web materials for the new edition of the SPSS book (https://t.co/NnSZdhdIO1). The smart alex answers alone involved over 500 images and 7000 lines of text/code. I bloody hope people actually use them. @Sage_Methods
@_KellyOC We shouldn’t be pushing those that want a clinical psych degree to other programs just bc they don’t have enough pubs. That is only going to gatekeep the field further.
We've almost made it to the end of CATIE 2024! What an amazing group of CATIE Fellows.
Thank you to all of our faculty, staff, and students who have worked so hard to support this incredible program.
Some exciting work from Dr. Melissa Miller, one of our current ADHD fellows, who recently presented at the 2023 @ABCTNOW convention on the association between cognitive disengagement syndrome, negative problem orientation, and avoidance problem solving!
My mom graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree this weekend! She took her first class in 1983 (before my brother and I were born) and finished her last class in 2023. I am so proud to be her daughter every day!
Congrats to my mama, Shirley “Marv” Ventresca, B.A.
