The US has finally removed the unilateral sanctions on Eritrea today.
Congratulations to the people and Government of #Eritrea for their steadfastness, resilience, and principled approach that made this development a reality.
The unilateral sanctions imposed on Eritrea by the Biden Administration in 2021 were unwarranted and caused undue damage on Eritrea. Now that they have been removed, we welcome this positive gesture and corrective measures taken by the Trump Administration.
Today’s move by the US should mark the beginning of a new chapter in the Eritrea-US relations, that we envision to be grounded in #sovereign respect, mutual interests, and the pursuit of a mutually beneficial #partnership. 🇪🇷🇺🇸
I am following this account because I stumbled in this video reportage about #Eritrea, which is the closest to reality I have seen by an #African Media. I think people and especially #Africans should follow this type of accounts...
President Isaias Afwerki and his delegation made a tour of the new Administrative Capital in the Cairo Governorate and the various Public Service Pavilions and infrastructures under construction. Discussions centered on prospective areas of broad cooperation.
The Eritrean Diaspora; by Alula Frezghi
Eritrea's signature attributes of seamless national cohesion and harmony - within a multiethnic and multireligious social setting - and robust bondage with the Diaspora have indeed been pivotal in its three-decades struggle to assert is inviolable rights of decolonization as well as in the tasks of of nation-building in the aftermath of its hard-won independence.

Wode Maya is surprised his phone did not get snatched in Eritrea when he was recording using his phone in his car. That is just scratching the surface. If that were to happen, the people in the street would act as a police and apprehend the perpetrator.
There are stories after stories people will tell you that anyone outside of Eritrea will not believe.
Personally, I left very expensive Camera Gear in a car in city center with the windows open for more than an hour and when I came back and realized the windows were open, I did not think the camera would be there.
Alas, the car was untouched and I was so relieved and blown over by that incident. But then there are more stories like a waitress gave back a man who forgot a bag full of cash in a bar....
This is Eritrea! where women walk back home even in dark streets and no one will think of touching them. It does not mean there are not a rare occasions of crime in the cities, but they are rare.
And what is more astonishing is, if you walk to the towns and villages in Eritrea, there is virtually No Police and no crime. You have to see it to believe it, because looking at the world today, no one will believe you.
Ethiopia: Belligerent Agenda of Regional Destabilization;
(Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Research and Documentation Division)
*"...Over the past two years, Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party (PP) regime has indulged in a reckless and insidious agenda of belligerence and destabilization against the State of Eritrea and the wider region. The hostile and unprovoked agenda has often been framed and rationalized in 'existential' terms; as the 'imperative for sovereign access to the sea' in the regime’s hyperbolic parlance".
*"...The elusive and toxic agenda continues to be flaunted by invoking and recycling fallacious and revisionist historical narratives; alluding to demographic factors that revolve around Ethiopia’s relatively big and growing population size; as well as reciting abstract economic parameters and correlations that are at odds, and in contravention with, foundational pillars of international law".
*"...From the foregoing chronology of events and facts, it is palpably clear that the PP regime’s misguided and deplorable agendas, which have no basis in law and history, are anathema to regional peace and stability. And while remaining committed to constructive regional engagement and peaceful cooperation, Eritrea, for its part, firmly rejects any claims or actions that infringe upon its sovereignty and territorial integrity in flagrant contravention of international law. As underlined on various occasions in the past two years, the Government of Eritrea has no interest or appetite to engage in an acronymous agenda of conflict and turmoil. It remains resolutely committed to peace, stability, and the responsible management of regional relations".

Mustafe Mohamed Omer,, President of the #Somali Region (Ogaden), has reportedly stated: "#Ethiopia will fall apart without Abiy expelling me" and "I do not believe that free and fair elections will be held in Ethiopia."
The conflict and rivalry between Somali Region President Mustafe Mohamed Omer, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has intensified in recent months. Ethio Forum has obtained an audio recording of Mustafe addressing his key cadres, in which he claimed that Abiy Ahmed would resign before attempting to remove him. Mustafe asserted that the Somali people have achieved a century-long goal through peaceful struggle.
He further stated that upcoming elections will not bring meaningful change without violence, as opposition parties would allegedly be barred from participating. Mustafe expressed confidence that, once the Somali Region forms its own government, he will be elected unopposed from Degehabur.
Recently, Abiy Ahmed met with the presidents of Djibouti and Somalia. Reports suggest that he criticized Mustafe, claiming that during his seven-year tenure as Somali Region president, Mustafe accomplished only 2% of his responsibilities.
In the recording, Mustafe also said that although Abiy aimed to remove him, he warned that Ethiopia would collapse in the process. Mustafe stated: "Ethiopia will collapse, and when it does, we will not be trapped; we will establish our own government. Then there will be no such thing as the Prosperity Party." The audio recording is available on Ethio Forum.
#Eritrea: Statement by Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam at 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women; 19 March 2026
*"...The foundations of gender equality in Eritrea were not established solely through legislation, but were forged during the decades-long struggle for national liberation. Eritrean women participated in large numbers in the liberation movement, serving not only as fighters but also as educators, medics, logisticians, and community organizers".
*"...Their contributions challenged deeply rooted social norms and demonstrated the central role women could play in shaping the destiny of their nation. This experience continues to inform Eritrea’s nation-building process and its enduring commitment to equality, participation, and social justice".

PRESIDENT ISAIAS AFWERKI’S INTERVIEW WITH LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS
(Part I - focusing on global governance architecture and Eritrea-US ties )
"More importantly, it is incumbent on us to address our own internal situation as a neighborhood before venturing into constructive engagement with extraneous powers. We cannot put the blame on them before we accomplish these tasks. We cannot always request their support, their intervention to resolve our problems before we do our homework and address our own problems".

#Eritrea: Statement by Ambassador Beyene Russom at 7th Session of the UN Environment Assembly; Nairobi, 11 December 2025
*"...Eritrea continues to combat environmental degradation through domestic capacities and community-driven action. One of our most transformative national undertakings has been the construction of hundreds of dams across the country; efforts that have strengthened drought resilience, expanded irrigated agriculture, and secured drinking water for rural communities".
*"...Eritrea is further accelerating investments in solar, wind, and geothermal energy. However, for many least developed countries, the renewable-energy transition requires substantial upfront capital and technical expertise. We therefore reiterate the urgent need for accessible, predictable, and timely climate finance delivered without burdensome bureaucratic conditions".

How timeless... #Eritrea General Sebhat Efrem's take on the region: "In Eritrea, the time is 5:00 AM—dawning to a bright future. In Ethiopia, the time is 5:00 PM—starting its darkest period just now."
