Warmer weather means enjoying more trips to beaches and city pools.
I want to encourage everyone to be careful whenever venturing into or near water. Beachgoers should always swim in areas where there are lifeguards present, be mindful of their instructions and heed warning flags when posted.
We want everyone to have a safe and happy summer.
New York is a world-class tourist destination and visitors arriving at our airports deserve a safe experience from the moment they get here. As we prepare to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, my office is partnering with @PANYNJ and @nyctaxi to ensure that visitors are not exploited by unscrupulous drivers looking to take advantage of them.
Taxi hustling has no place in our city, and we will use every tool at our disposal to hold offenders accountable.
Memorial Day is a time for our nation to honor and remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
I was proud to join Queens veterans and families for our annual Memorial Day observance ceremony.
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

I was grateful to have recently attended the “Motions and Motherhood” program hosted by the @QueensCountyBar Association.
It was an insightful conversation on balancing a legal career with motherhood — both challenging and incredibly fulfilling. Thank you to the organizers and speakers for this important dialogue.
Defendant Guy Rivera was sentenced to 115 years to life in prison for fatally shooting NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller and attempting to murder NYPD Sergeant Sasha Rosen in Far Rockaway on March 25, 2024.
The sentence ensures that this defendant will never be free again to terrorize the streets of New York City. https://t.co/UdIIIeH4lZ
“Hate has no place in our state.” @GovKathyHochul in her second NYC event today — standing with @ManhattanDA and @MelindaKatz reports “decrease” in hate crimes but says more than half are anti-semitism #NBC4NY
The last words Detective Jonathan Diller told his wife were ‘I love you.’ Detective Diller was a father, a husband and a son. He was also a dedicated member of the New York City Police Department who put on a uniform every day to protect our city.
On March 25, 2024, Guy Rivera chose to ignore these facts, chose to ignore multiple lawful commands and chose to shoot Detective Diller. After shooting Detective Diller, he tried to shoot in the chest Sergeant Sasha Rosen. This crime stole the life of a dutiful officer and a family man and endangered the life of a devoted NYPD sergeant.
The jury found the defendant guilty today of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree and other crimes. I thank the members of my Homicide Bureau for prosecuting this case.
I continue to extend my deepest condolences to Detective Diller’s loved ones, well wishes to Sergeant Sasha Rosen and gratitude to the brave men and women of the NYPD who protect our city.

I was proud to march in the St. Pat’s for All Parade in Sunnyside and the St. Patrick's Day Parade in the Rockaways, celebrating the communities that make Queens the borough of nations.
When we come together as neighbors, we build the trust that helps keep our communities safe. My office will always work to protect and serve every corner of Queens. ☘️
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Assembly Member Cathy Nolan, a steadfast advocate who served the people of Queens for decades.
I had the privilege of serving beside Cathy in the State Assembly and witnessed firsthand her unwavering commitment to standing up for Queens’ families.
Her legacy of public service will not be forgotten. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

A Briarwood man was indicted and arraigned on charges of attempted assault and weapon possession for advancing on an NYPD officer while holding a large kitchen knife after the officer responded to a 911 call at the residence.
In every case, including those involving a mental health component, decisions must be based on facts, informed by experts and grounded in public safety. https://t.co/jzA5C3VID7
@MelindaKatz, Queens District Attorney, looked up to Claire Shulman as her mentor. "I learned so much from her, just watching and listening. ... She made things happen."
If you have any information about the killing of Efrain Vargas, who was stabbed to death inside his apartment on 91st Street in Woodhaven nearly nine years ago, please contact @NYPDTips via DM, or by calling 800-577-TIPS.
It is never too late for justice.
