The Trevor Project is reporting a 700% increase in crisis calls from LGBTQ+ youth who are worried for their safety and wellbeing following Donald Trump’s election.

Anecdotally, over the last week I’ve spoken with dozens of queer members of our church here in Texas who are feeling the same way. It’s even worse for many folks in the trans community who have been viciously targeted by the Trump campaign.

I stand in full support of and solidarity with my LGBTQ+ siblings. I stand against all hateful rhetoric and discriminatory policies levied against them.

If you love LGBTQ+ folks and consider yourself an ally, now is the time to stand up, speak out, and work for justice alongside the queer community.

As Stan Mitchell says, “If you call yourself an ally to a group of people and you aren’t getting hit by the stones being thrown at them, then you aren’t standing close enough.”
