Sui Ecosystem Adaptation: Why Does Momentum Staking System Choose Move?

Momentum staking architecture isn’t a simple copy of traditional DeFi models.
Instead, it’s deeply adapted to Sui’s technical foundation, leveraging the synergy between the Move programming language and Sui’s consensus design to solve two longstanding issues of conventional staking — low efficiency and high cost.
Its adaptive logic can be summarized in three key points:

1️⃣ Move Object Model — A Revolution in Staking Efficiency
Sui Move’s objectoriented architecture allows each staked asset to be processed independently and in parallel:

Independence: Every staked MMT becomes a unique onchain object with its own ID, eliminating reward calculation errors common in accountbased balance models.
Parallelism: Multiple staking transactions can be executed simultaneously without waiting for previous confirmations.
This design reduces the average staking response time to under 390 ms, fully matching Sui’s transactionfinality speed.

2️⃣ Consensus Mechanism — Optimizing Reward Distribution Costs
Powered by Sui’s Narwhal & Bullshark asynchronous consensus, reward distribution achieves both zero gas cost and full automation:

Automation: Rewards are distributed automatically every 24 hours — users don’t need to claim manually. The computed yield is directly written into the properties of their veMMT objects.
Cost Efficiency: Since reward distribution is a singlewriter transaction, computation occurs locally while validators only verify the result.
This avoids Ethereum’s expensive onchain gas fees (often tens of dollars per claim) and saves users over 80% in monthly operational costs.

3️⃣ Ecosystem Synergy — Seamless CrossProtocol Staking
Move’s modular design enables Momentum staking system to integrate effortlessly with the broader Sui ecosystem:

CrossPool Staking: Lending certificates from Suilend can be directly used as collateral for Moment liquidity positions — no unlocking required.
CrossChain Integration: Through Circle CCTP, USDC bridged from Ethereum to Sui can be staked directly into Momentum LP pools, realizing a onestop flow from crosschain assets to staking yield.
