A few years ago when my daughter was 4, we were at a self-checkout in Walmart. I’m scanning the items, minding my business, when she asks (out of the blue):
“Mommy, are you still on your period?”
I freeze. Ignore her. Keep scanning. She asks again. Louder. “Mommy, are you still on your period?”
People start looking. I give her the look...the one that says “not now.”
I scan a couple more items then she suddenly grabs my hand, and says really loud: “Mommy, why are you ignoring me?
