On the 26th-27th June 2025, academic experts and leading civil society organisations met in London for an International Network for Critical #China Studies workshop to analyse how to prevent #TransnationalRepression (TNR). 🧵
I will be sharing my experience as a human rights defender in this event. If anyone living here (York, 🇬🇧) is interested in hearing about diaspora activism or Uyghurs situation is warmly welcomed to join.

Göç İdaresi, "Hiçbir Uygur'u Çin'e göndermedik" yalanını tekrarlamış.
Peki, Zinnetgül'ü 2 çocuğuyla Tacikistan aktarmalı olarak Çin'e gönderen kimdi?
Aşağıda adı geçen üç Uygur'u daha Çin'e teslim ettiniz.
Ve daha açığa çıkarılmayan nice kurban var ...
Yesterday Thai authorities repatriated 40 Uyghur refugees to China, where Uyghurs are facing genocide. This happened in front of the world after the Uyghur genocide was well documented. I have nothing to say about this inhumane behavior, feel so powerless, so helpless.
So far, only these 3 men and their families have been used as propaganda material. I don’t believe all 40 men's families were summoned to Kashgar—some have relatives who are deceased or imprisoned. The whereabouts of the remaining 37 individuals and their families remain unknown.
UN and concerned governments should now ACT to protect other Uyghurs who are targeted by China and are at risk of deportation. Asylum cases should be accelerated given the extreme circumstances. The Uyghurs in Thailand should be resettled, immediately, and unconditionally.

Thailand has forcibly sent at least 40 Uyghur men who have been in Thai detention for over a decade to China.
These Uyghur detainees may face enforced disappearance, long-term imprisonment, torture, and other mistreatment: https://t.co/C6zAWlGcIM
See our video from January:
Til yesterday, senior Thai officials gave multiple assurances that the Uyghurs would not be transferred. The UN & concerned governments should now do everything in their power to demand the Chinese government provide access to the men by independent observers & UN officials.
"Thailand's transfer of Uyghur detainees to China constitutes a blatant violation of Thailand's obligation under domestic and international laws," said @PearsonElaine, Asia Director, @hrw.

Regarding reports that Thailand is transferring to China over 40 Uyghur Muslims in immigration detention in Bangkok in the early hours of February 27, the following quotes can be attributed to @PearsonElaine , Asia director at @hrw:
The U.S. government remains concerned about the risk of deportation and has proposed practical solutions. Thailand has yet to accept them. #Uyghur https://t.co/gvMpIUltxx
Some people claim that the Thai court has ruled in favor of their deportation, but that is not true. The court has not yet made a final decision, and the next hearing is scheduled for March 27. How can there be a verdict when the trial is not over? The real issue is that
Despite reassurances from the National Security Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports suggest that Thai authorities are still planning to deport 48 Uyghur refugees who have been detained for over a decade to China, where they may face persecution.
People's Party list-MP Romadon Panjor shared a video showing a detention truck entering the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) in Suan Phlu tonight. He, currently at the center, pointed out that the gate is closed tonight, which is unusual. He urged Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to clarify the government’s plans for the refugees, especially after her recent visit to China.
Since 2015, around 300 Uyghurs have entered Thailand seeking safety. Of these, 170 women and children were sent to Turkey, and 109 were deported to China. Currently, 48 Uyghur refugees remain in Thailand—43 in detention and five in prison for attempted escapes. There have been complaints about their health, including hunger strikes, and fears of deportation continue.
