@Litprof3 it was mentioned a little after halfway that madeline was pregnant, but not mentioned again until the very end when paul is dead, i just find that interesting
@Litprof3 i noticed that most of the females shirts go all the way up to their neck, showing that maybe they are trying to be more proper and pure? or maybe that was just the time period
@Litprof3 the quote "we went to the movies often, the screen would light up and we would feel a thrill" is like what we were talking about in class how movies captivate you
@Litprof3 interesting how paul keeps writing things on public places, it's almost as if he feels his ideas are correct and he can put them anywhere he wants
@Litprof3 Hmm I definitely think that madeline and the other girl (forget her name) have something going on other than platonic friends! the lunch scene where she touched her face enhanced this idea for me
@Litprof3 I think the film really enhanced ideal beauty through the portrayal of the female characters. All of them are put together and constantly fixing their hair and makeup to seem perfect
@Litprof3 Elsa says she doesn't know about any wars going on at the time. it almost makes it seem like women aren't intelligent or that they don't pay attention to important things such as current events
@Litprof3 interesting how Elsa says that women play a big role in America and that it's good, it's like she doesn't feel like she is playing any role in France
I actually really like the close ups of the camera angles. i think they help us get a better sense of the character and it makes it more personal, you can see facial expressions and changes in the character much better
@Litprof3 the bathroom scene really portrays the male gaze. throughout the whole scene it is him describing what he likes and doesn't like about girls and trying to convince her to go to bed with him. also, during the scene she is fixing her hair and makeup to look good for him
@Litprof3 I noticed how the majority of the time that the male character (not sure his name yet) is talking about his time in the military, the camera is only pointed at the girl, continuing to play with her hair
