We’ve also been busy with the 24-drop nucleus and Marbarrup RBC rams - midside sampling, fleece weighing and faecal sampling for individual WECs. Next up, lamb marking! @Marbarrup
And that’s a wrap on lambing 2025! 677 nucleus lambs tagged at birth, weighed and a few traits recorded, kicking off their data collection journey! https://t.co/k18hMdAyLD
Note the blue dot on the lamb is spray mark - to keep track of who’s been tagged from a distance! All lambs born have dam, MBS, BT, sex, BWT and a couple of other traits recorded.
It’s been a busy week for the Merinotech nucleus and ram breeder @Marbarrup!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Merinotech with the rams completing their hot dates and the 24-drop ewes being dag scored, midside sampled, shorn and fleece weighed. https://t.co/CzwX9uLjy9
The rams are back from the bush and met their matches on Valentines Day, ready for their 5 weeks of work! We’re keen to see how the progeny perform these 10 sires. https://t.co/VsAAXc699p
The team at @Marbarrup were busy this week EMD & fat scanning the MA ewes + collecting their pre-joining WT & CS. Research suggests that fat measurements may be an indicator of whole body energy, so we’re hoping this data will contribute to better understanding the correlation.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Merinotech team! Thanks to our members, ram purchasers, underbidders and followers for supporting Merinotech throughout the year. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve in 2025.
