The past year has shown us more than ever how important volunteers are to help us keep caring for Formby’s precious wildlife and to create special memories for those who love to visit.
Thanks so much for your support we think you’re all amazing 🤩 🙏 😇

@ck_1365 @Liverpoolcvs @cpvolgroup @VolunteeringNT Hi Christopher, we volunteer at a number of National Trust sites across the North West. We are hoping to start volunteering again soon. Our Facebook page has more info, Merseyside NT Volunteers
Have you listened to our lockdown audio walk at home yet? We’d love to hear what you think.
One supporter described it as “a delightful, virtual breath of fresh air “🙂
Join ranger Chris on your sofa as he takes us on a virtual walk around Formby.

We’re hoping to repair the boardwalk at Lifeboat Road next week on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th.
There’s quite a lot of damage to repair, requiring the removal of a large number of planks.
We’ll have to close the boardwalk whilst we carry out this work.
We’ve recently been carrying out “scrub removal” at Larkhill heath - making space for specialist flowers and shrubs to thrive. With the help of volunteers we’ve removed large quantities of gorse. Too much of this lush vegetation can crowd out sensitive, habitat enhancing flowers.
"It’s so easy to forget that Formby is much more than just a beach."
As we say goodbye to a challenging summer, our area ranger Kate reflects on how we've cared for this special place with the support of our visitors, partners and the local community 👇

We’re expecting a busy weekend, so we encourage you to avoid visiting Formby. Long traffic queues create problems for Formby residents and emergency services. High visitor numbers also increases the risk of creating hotspots.

It's #VolunteersWeek and we're really missing our fabulous team! Almost 300 people volunteer in the Hall, gardens, estate, restaurant, shop, education team, on the buggy, doing conservation, helping at events, delivering tours & much more. We can't wait to see them back at Speke.
Looking forward to being able to volunteer again in the great outdoors around Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond. We will be ready and willing when we are needed. In the meantime stay safe.@NTFormby@NTSpekeHall @ErddigNT @DunhamMasseyNT @QuarryBankNT @NTWirral @ChirkCastleNT
We've taken the decision to close our parks & gardens, to help restrict the spread of coronavirus.
Both car parks at Formby are open but we encourage staying local and observing social distancing. The wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our top priority.
Due to storm damage there are currently no safe access routes on and off the
beach at either Victoria Road or Lifeboat Road. Victoria Road car park remains
closed. We hope to provide safe access as soon as possible. Please see our Facebook page for more details.
Fancy spreading the word about all of the important work we do looking after Formby? We're looking for a part-time Marketing & Communications Officer to join our friendly and passionate team.
Apply by 28 October: https://t.co/VnGaULfi5f
Today we are in Stockton Woods cutting birch and sycamore sapling regrowth to allow oaks and beech to grow. The cut saplings will be used for den making.
We really enjoyed our day on the fells with @PeakDistrictNT planting sphagnum moss. 3,600 plants put in the ground by our team of 11 volunteers. #volunteer#greatoutdoors
We will be @NTFormby on Sunday. Come and say hello if you see us, up to 16 volunteers expected, always happy to explain what we are doing and why. Fingers crossed that the weather holds. #volunteer#Autumn#coast
