The first 3 Grey Herons ringed today as part of our new project. Please report sightings of our colour ringed Herons, Little Egrets and Cormorants @_BTO#ringing#herons
@timbovillosa@Ness_Gardens No worries Tim, we do a few sessions a year during school holidays. The next one is 14th August I believe but the sessions are published on the Ness Gardens website here: https://t.co/OApaAdVqQG.
Great to help in a bird ringing demo @Ness_Gardens today with @MerseysideRG & @RoseFroud. Lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves & even better to catch many healthy Greenfinches. A species weโve not ringed at these demos before
A small catch of Knot and Dunlin last night at #Hoylake, this flagged knot was ringed on Alt estuary in 2018. It has been reported 17 times since, including Skogarnes, #Iceland. Great to see what can be gathered from using leg flags to help bird conservation.
Thanks to @realjoelennon for reporting Cormorant 233 at Portmore Lough, N. Ireland, on 24th Jan. This is just the 2nd bird from our project to be found in Ireland.
Last week our Little Egret that went to the Isle of Man was found in N. Wales.
MRG have reached a nice milestone at one of our sites, #woolstoneyes, with a Robin ringed on the 17th January being the 190,000th bird ringed there since 1980. The 100,000 was a Moorhen. I wonder what the 200,000th will be?
In July, decisions were made by @NENorthWest which has resulted in an unprecedented outcome in modern times.
0.5ha of the Dee Estuary SAC is now set to be destroyed on Wirral. @WildJustice_org have been helping to reverse this nationally significant precedent.

I retrapped this juv male Sparrowhawk this am. Initially I thought the lesions could be trichomonas infection, but further research seems to suggest Eucoleus dispar. Anyone seen this before? The bird flew off strongly and appeared otherwise healthy.
Thanks to @WayneTurner4 for reporting cormorant 225 from Guernsey on the 5th December. This is our first report of a cormorant to the Channel Islands.

@PaulRalston17 Hi Paul.
Thanks for reporting the Egret. It was ringed at Hale on 29th May as one from a brood of 3. Would you mind reporting the metal ring (GV73890) via this link?

Your report is the first for this bird.
