Today, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo PhD, convened a high-level stakeholders' meeting with officials from the Meru County Government and the Meru Chapter of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) to strengthen collaboration in entrepreneurship and innovation.
The discussions focused on commercializing university innovations, nurturing student entrepreneurs and creating pathways for sustainable economic growth through strategic partnerships.

Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) proudly unveiled Ka-Mero Camel Milk Yoghurt during the 5th Meru University of Science and Technology International Conference (MUSTIC 2026), marking a significant milestone in transforming research into impactful products that promote health, create economic opportunities, and empower communities.
Developed by researchers from the Institute of Indigenous Foods in collaboration with partner institutions, Ka-Mero Camel Milk Yoghurt harnesses the exceptional nutritional benefits of camel milk, offering consumers a healthy, delicious, and innovative dairy product. The launch showcases MUST's commitment to Research, Innovation, Commercialization, and Extension by translating scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions.
The innovation is a result of multidisciplinary research supported by the National Research Fund and implemented in partnership with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Tharaka University, Ngamia Milk Suppliers Ltd and pastoral communities in Isiolo County.
Available in Natural, Banana, Strawberry, and Vanilla flavours, Ka-Mero Camel Milk Yoghurt is more than a product it is a symbol of innovation, collaboration, and the transformative power of research in improving livelihoods and driving Kenya's bioeconomy.

MUSTIC 2026 officially kicked off today with insightful addresses from Chief Guest Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, PhD, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, who underscored the critical role of research and innovation in driving sustainable development and shaping the future.
Distinguished remarks were also delivered by Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Forestry; the Chair of Council, Prof. James Kanya, PhD; and the Vice Chancellor, highlighting the importance of collaboration between academia, government, and industry.
A major highlight of the day was the launch of Ka-Mero Camel Milk Yoghurt by the Institute of Indigenous Foods (IIF), a testament to MUST's commitment to research-driven innovation, value addition, and community impact.
The event was further graced by Mr. Patrick Kilemi, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Cooperatives, and Hon. Gideon Kimathi, Director of Protocol in the Office of the Deputy President.

The event has commenced with an engaging Pre-Conference Session, officially opened by the Vice Chancellor of Meru University of Science and Technology, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, PhD who underscored the importance of innovation, collaboration, and research in shaping solutions for tomorrowโs challenges.
This session also featured a keynote address by Prof. Benson Estambale, PhD Chairperson of the University Council , Kabarnet University College, who highlighted the critical role of higher education institutions in advancing research and driving transformative development.

Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), alongside Homegrown Volunteer Network and Njuri Ncheke, held a consultative meeting to shape the future of the Meru University Cultural and Art Week (MUSTCAW).
The partnership seeks to promote cultural appreciation, creativity and meaningful community engagement while preserving the rich heritage of the Meru people. Key priorities include resource mobilization, activation of the MUSTโSanaa Culture Village framework, expansion of creative economy enterprises, development of sustainable cultural products and institutionalization of MUSTCAW as an annual flagship university programme.
Together, we are building a vibrant platform where culture meets innovation and opportunity.
