TOPIC: DON’T LET A SERVANT TAKE A SON’S PORTION
1 Samuel 2:27–30; Galatians 4:1-2

There are things that belong properly to sons, but a son can lose the practical enjoyment of his portion when he refuses the spirit that should govern a son. Romans 8:17 says that if we are children, then we are heirs; “heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” Inheritance is connected to sonship, but inheritance also carries responsibility. There are sons who do not do what sons should do, and servants eventually step into the place where those sons should have stood. Eli’s sons are a sobering example. They were born into the priestly house, but their conduct dishonoured the privilege they carried. In 1 Samuel 2, God confronted that house because those who should have preserved the sacred trust had treated it lightly. Being born into a place of privilege does not automatically mean you will carry what that place was meant to produce.

Scripture repeatedly shows God choosing people who had the spirit to carry what others took for granted. Samuel rose where Eli’s sons failed. Joshua carried what many around Moses did not carry. Timothy became Paul’s trusted son among many associates. Solomon carried a dimension of David’s legacy while Absalom and Adonijah responded with very different spirits. The lesson is not that God delights in replacing people; the lesson is that divine inheritance must meet the right disposition. Don’t be a son whose portion is eventually carried by somebody else because you refused the obedience, service, humility and responsibility that sonship requires. A servant who faithfully responds to what God is doing may move closer to the heart of the assignment than a biological or spiritual son who lives carelessly around it.

Therefore, don’t presume upon your position. Don’t say, “This belongs to me,” while refusing the process that makes you capable of carrying it. Inheritance is not merely property, money or title. It can be wisdom, grace, spiritual responsibility, Kingdom opportunity, influence, burden and a divine deposit that must move to the next generation. Ask yourself whether you are becoming trustworthy with what has been placed around you. Honour the house. Honour the assignment. Honour the sacrifices that built what you are enjoying. Let your life say to God, “You will not need to look elsewhere because I refused my place.” A true son does not merely celebrate inheritance; he prepares himself to preserve, strengthen and multiply it. May you be found ready when the Father begins to distribute the portions He has reserved for mature sons.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I preparing myself to carry the inheritance connected to my place in God, or merely assuming it will come automatically? What responsibility have I neglected that a true son should be carrying?

PRAYER: Father, make me worthy of every trust connected to my sonship. Deliver me from carelessness and prepare me to receive, preserve and multiply every portion You appoint for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THERE ARE LEVELS YOU CANNOT ENTER WITH YOUR PRESENT STRENGTH ALONE.

Sometimes, the next level does not require more struggle.

It requires HELP.

Divine help.

Strategic help.

Right relationships.

Right counsel.

Right timing.

Right support.

The Bible says:

“My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” — Psalm 121:2 KJV

There are moments when God will move you forward by strengthening you personally.

And there are moments when He will move you forward by sending the right people, opening the right doors, and placing the right resources around you.

Do not despise help.

Do not let pride make you reject support.

Do not assume you must do everything alone.

Even Moses needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his hands.

“But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands…” — Exodus 17:12 KJV

Some victories require assistance.

Some assignments require partnership.

Some transitions require wisdom from people who have gone ahead.

Some next levels require a different kind of help from what sustained your present level.

So pray:

“Lord, send me the help required for the next level.”

May God connect you accurately.

May He send helpers of purpose.

May He preserve you from wrong alliances.

May He give you the humility to recognise help when it comes.

And may every resource required for your next level locate you in the name of Jesus.

NOT EVERY CONNECTION IS DIVINE — BUT THE RIGHT CONNECTION CAN CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LIFE.

There are people God brings into your journey because something in your assignment requires what He has placed in them.

And there are people you are meant to help because something in their destiny requires what God has placed in you.

This is why relationships must be discerned, not merely collected.

The Bible says:

A divine connection can bring:

clarity where you were confused,

wisdom where you were limited,

strength where you were weak,

access where you had no entry,

encouragement when you were tired,

and partnership for an assignment too large to carry alone.

But divine connections are not only about what you can receive.

They are also about what God wants to accomplish through both of you.

So do not chase people.

Do not force relationships.

Do not manipulate access.

Do not despise genuine helpers because they do not look impressive.

Pray for discernment.

Pray for accuracy.

Pray that God will connect you with the people who belong in your journey — and disconnect you from relationships that continually pull you away from His purpose.

SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT JUST CONNECTIONS — THEY ARE DIVINE LINKAGES.

There are relationships God uses to move purpose forward.

People who bring clarity.

People who open doors.

People who sharpen your discernment.

People who strengthen your obedience.

People who introduce you to assignments, opportunities, and environments connected to your future.

The Bible says:

But divine linkage is more than networking.

It is not chasing influential people.

It is not manipulating relationships.

It is not collecting contacts.

It is recognising the people God has deliberately placed in your journey.

Some relationships are for encouragement.

Some are for instruction.

Some are for correction.

Some are for partnership.

Some are for access.

Some are for destiny preservation.

And some people will carry something you need for the next phase of your assignment.

That is why discernment matters.

Do not despise people because they do not look important.

Do not force yourself into relationships God has not ordained.

Do not allow pride, offence, or carelessness to destroy a connection God intended to use.

WHO IS REALLY RUNNING YOUR LIFE?

Spiritual control can be understood through 4 P’s:

1. PRINCIPALITIES
Spiritual powers seek influence over territories, families, institutions, and systems.

2. PERSONALITIES
Those spiritual influences often work through human vessels — whether yielded to God or yielded to darkness.

3. PRACTICES
This is where the battle becomes personal.

Your daily habits matter.

Your prayer life matters.

Your fasting matters.

What you watch matters.

What you repeatedly say matters.

What you practise in secret matters.

Because practices create patterns, and patterns create spiritual permission.

4. PRODUCTS
Every spiritual influence eventually produces fruit.

The atmosphere of a family.

The culture of a workplace.

The moral direction of a society.

The condition of a generation.

All of these are eventually shaped by repeated practices.

The Bible says:

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey…” — Romans 6:16 KJV

That means the real question is not merely:

“What do I believe?”

But:

“What am I repeatedly practising?”

Because what you continually practise is helping determine what gains influence in your life.

If your practices are filled with prayer, the Word, obedience, holiness, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, you are giving God room to work.

If your practices continually feed the flesh, compromise, fear, bitterness, lust, or ungodly influences, you are creating room for the wrong spirit.

So audit your life.

Audit your habits.

Audit your entertainment.

Audit your private practices.

Audit what you repeatedly allow.

DECLARE IT: I WILL NOT GIVE THE ENEMY LEGAL ROOM THROUGH MY PRACTICES. I WILL YIELD MYSELF TO GOD, BUILD KINGDOM HABITS, AND CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE WHERE THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS FREE COURSE IN MY LIFE.

TOPIC: THERE ARE THINGS ONLY A FATHER CAN GIVE
Luke 15:31; Romans 8:16–17

There are levels at which a person can operate in life. There is what your effort can get for you, what your faith can obtain, and then there are things that only a father can give. You must understand the difference. Labour has its place. Faith has its place. But inheritance belongs to relationship. Romans 8:17 says that if we are children, then we are “heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.” An heir does not relate with the father merely as an employee negotiating wages. He belongs to the family and is being prepared to carry what belongs to the house. This is one reason sonship is so important. God is not merely trying to increase what you can achieve by personal effort; He is forming you to participate in what belongs to Him. The highest level of Kingdom life is not independence from the Father but mature participation with Him.

The elder brother in Luke 15 struggled to understand this. The father told him in verse 31, “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” He was living in the house but thinking like a labourer. That mentality can make a believer work hard around the things of God without understanding inheritance. There is a level where you move beyond the “fund level” and even beyond the “faith level” into the “father level.” There are things your money can buy. There are things faith can obtain directly from God. But there are also portions, mantles, wisdom, authority, access and advantages that flow through legitimate father-son relationships. Elisha received Elijah’s mantle in the place where he cried, “My father, my father.” Joseph received a portion above his brethren. Sonship opens a dimension that mere employment cannot produce.

Do not misunderstand this truth as permission for laziness or entitlement. A true son does not stop working because he has inheritance; he becomes more responsible because he has a stake in the family. The heir must be trained before he can safely carry what belongs to the father. That is why all the formation we have studied in this devotional matters. Bendability, teachability, service, correction and obedience prepare you for inheritance. Don't struggle to seize what God intends to give through maturity and relationship. Stay with the Father. Learn His heart. Let Him prepare you. And don't despise the fathers He legitimately uses in your journey. There are things God may choose to transmit through relationship that you cannot manufacture by ambition. Come up to the father level: not as a demanding child, but as a mature son ready to receive, preserve and multiply what the Father entrusts to you.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I relating with God mainly as a worker seeking wages, or am I growing into the responsibility of an heir? What part of my character still needs development before I can safely carry greater inheritance?

PRAYER: Father, bring me into mature sonship. Prepare me to receive, preserve and multiply every inheritance You have appointed for my life, without entitlement or pride, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

“I didn’t want to ask.”

Those words should make a leader pause.

Someone needed clarification but worried about how their question would be received. So they guessed, waited or continued without understanding.

A sigh, an interruption or “You should know this already” can make asking again feel difficult.

A thoughtful response gives someone room to learn.

The next time a colleague asks for help:

• Let them finish.
• Find out which part is unclear.
• Explain without embarrassing them.
• Check that the answer helped.

If you cannot respond immediately, agree a time and follow through.

You can maintain clear expectations while treating questions with patience. Understanding what someone has missed also helps you improve your instructions.

Before ending your next briefing, try asking:

“Which part would be useful for us to go through again?”

What has a leader done that made you comfortable asking for help?

YOUR FUTURE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD — YOU DON’T HAVE TO FIGHT FOR EVERYTHING.

Sometimes, you can afford to step back from a situation that looks unfair because you know something deeper:

Your future is in the hands of God.

There was a time I was looking for a house.

Someone helped me find a very good house, and I was interested in taking it. But another person came along who was prepared to pay far more for the same property.

I could have fought.

I could have become bitter.

I could have insisted that I was there first.

But I stepped back.

Why?

Because I knew that my future was not in the hands of that landlord.

It was in the hands of God.

Later, while I was still looking, the landlord of the house where I was staying began building another property within the compound.

When it was completed, another person also wanted that house.

But the landlord said, in effect:

“No. I want this man to be my neighbour. I have watched his character.”

And the house came to me.

Listen carefully:

There are things you may appear to lose today that God is using to move you toward something better.

You do not have to manipulate every outcome.

You do not have to quarrel over every opportunity.

You do not have to become desperate because someone seems to have overtaken you.

The Bible says:

“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” — Psalm 75:6–7 KJV

When God is responsible for your future, no man can permanently cheat you out of what He has ordained for you.

Sometimes what looks like rejection is divine redirection.

Sometimes what looks like losing is God protecting you from settling too early.

Sometimes the door you could not force open is simply not the door God intends to use.

So maintain your character.

Keep obeying God.

Do what is right.

And allow God to fight battles you do not need to fight.

YOUR DESTINY IS NOT AT THE MERCY OF MEN.

If God is involved, what belongs in your future will meet you there.

DECLARE IT: MY FUTURE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD. I WILL NOT LIVE DESPERATELY, FIGHT UNNECESSARY BATTLES, OR COMPROMISE MY CHARACTER. GOD WILL ORDER MY STEPS AND BRING ME INTO WHAT HE HAS PREPARED FOR ME.

YOUR MISSION WHEREVER GOD SENDS YOU IS TO PUBLISH HIS WORD.

“Your mission anywhere on this earth is to be an active publisher of God’s holy Word.”

You were not placed in your family, workplace, profession, city, nation, or generation merely to occupy space.

You are there on assignment.

God expects His truth to travel through your life.

His Word must be heard through your mouth.

His character must be seen through your conduct.

His light must enter places of darkness through your presence.

The Bible says:

“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” — Psalm 68:11 KJV

Every believer must become part of that company.

Do not leave the preaching of the Gospel only to pastors.

Do not leave evangelism only to organised programmes.

Do not assume somebody else will speak.

YOU ARE A PUBLISHER OF GOD’S WORD.

Publish it in your home.

Publish it at work.

Publish it online.

Publish it through your testimony.

Publish it through your conversations.

Publish it through the way you live.

Jesus said:

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15 KJV

The world around you is part of your world.

There are people God has placed within your reach who may hear the Gospel because you decided not to remain silent.

So wherever God plants you, let His Word spread.

Wherever He sends you, represent Him accurately.

Wherever darkness is increasing, publish the light.

DECLARE IT: I AM AN ACTIVE PUBLISHER OF GOD’S HOLY WORD. I WILL NOT BE SILENT. THROUGH MY LIFE, MY WORDS, MY PLATFORM, AND MY ASSIGNMENT, JESUS CHRIST WILL BE MADE KNOWN.

TIMING MATTERS. PLACEMENT MATTERS.

You can be doing the right thing and still be outside the right timing.

You can be gifted, sincere, prayerful, and hardworking — yet struggle because you are not where God has placed you or because you are moving ahead of His timing.

The Bible says:

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” — Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV

Divine purpose is connected to divine timing.

There are doors you should not force.

There are seasons you should not rush.

There are places you should not leave prematurely.

And there are places you must not remain after God has said, Move.

Jesus Himself said:

“My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.” — John 7:6 KJV

That means spiritual maturity includes learning to distinguish between:

A good opportunity and a God-timed opportunity.

A convenient location and a divinely appointed location.

Human urgency and divine timing.

Do not let pressure move you.

Do not let money alone move you.

Do not let comparison move you.

Do not let fear move you.

Let God move you.

When God places you correctly and you move in His timing, you come into alignment with what He has already prepared.

DECLARE IT: I WILL NOT MISS GOD’S TIMING. I WILL NOT MISS GOD’S PLACEMENT. I RECEIVE GRACE TO DISCERN WHEN TO MOVE, WHERE TO STAY, WHAT TO DO, AND WHEN TO DO IT. MY STEPS WILL BE ORDERED BY THE LORD.

The Bible says:

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” — Psalm 37:23 KJV

ARE YOU A PERPETUATOR OF GOD?

A God perpetuator is a believer who refuses to let the knowledge, presence, truth and workings of God disappear from his or her generation.

You carry something from God that must not stop with you.

When society tries to unlearn God, dilute truth, normalise darkness and push divine values to the margins, the believer must become a faithful carrier of His presence and truth.

The Bible says:

“One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4 KJV

God must not become a memory in your family.

God must not become a historical idea in your community.

God must not become irrelevant in your profession, your school, your city or your generation.

You are here to carry Him faithfully and make Him known.

That means:

You must preserve the truth.

You must model the life of Christ.

You must raise children who know God for themselves.

You must speak when darkness wants silence.

You must carry His presence into places where He is being ignored.

You must live in such a way that the next generation can say:

“We saw God at work in their lives.”

Jesus said:

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” — Matthew 5:14 KJV

So do not hide.

Do not blend in.

Do not apologise for carrying God.

BECOME A FAITHFUL CARRIER OF GOD.

Wherever He sends you, dispense His light.

Wherever darkness grows, introduce truth.

Wherever people are forgetting God, become a living reminder that He is still real, still present, still speaking and still working.

THE ALTAR RULES THE LAND!

The physical throne of an earthly king is not the ultimate authority over a territory. It is the prevailing spiritual altar that determines what happens in the land.

As a believer, you are called to be God’s instrument for discipling nations and establishing His influence on the earth. The territories you seek to reach with the light of God must first be contended for in the spirit.

📖 Jeremiah 51:20 (KJV) “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms.”

Do not rely on physical effort alone. Take your place at the altar in prayer, exercise your spiritual authority, and stand for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

It is not the earthly throne of a king that rules the land, but prevailing spiritual altars.

TOPIC: SONSHIP POSITIONS YOU FOR BLESSING
Genesis 49:22–26; Matthew 3:16–17

There is a way a son lives that positions him to attract and retain blessing. This is not manipulation, and it is not an attempt to earn the love of God. It is the spiritual consequence of carrying the right disposition before the Father. The spirit of sonship causes a man to retain blessings on his head and positions him attitudinally to attract blessing. Joseph is a powerful example. In Genesis 49:22–26, Jacob released a weighty blessing over Joseph that went beyond ordinary words. Joseph had already proved himself through years of faithfulness, suffering and responsibility. The blessing did not fall on a careless life. There was a nature that could carry what was being spoken. Many people want blessing, but they do not ask whether their present attitudes can safely retain the blessing they are praying for. God is not only concerned about release; He is concerned about what happens after release.

Jesus gives us an even higher picture. In Matthew 3:17, before He had performed the public miracles of His ministry, the Father said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Sonship had already pleased the Father before public service began. You can serve and merely receive payment, or you can live in such a way that service becomes connected to blessing. The difference is not outward activity alone; it is the spirit behind it. A servant may complete an assigned duty and leave. A son carries the Father’s interest in his heart. This is why blessing must never become the first motive for sonship. You do not become a son because you want something from the Father. Rather, when the nature of a son is formed in you, you become properly positioned for what the Father desires to entrust to His children.

Don't chase blessing while resisting formation. Let your prayer become deeper than, “Father, give me.” Ask Him to make you a person who can retain what He gives. Let obedience strengthen. Let humility deepen. Let faithfulness become part of your nature. Let your heart genuinely care about the Father’s interests. There are blessings that will become destructive in the hands of an unformed person because what should advance purpose becomes fuel for pride, independence or self-indulgence. God wants to bless His children, but He also wants sons who can carry blessing without losing Him. Therefore, allow the spirit of sonship to position you properly. Seek first to please the Father. When the blessing comes, let it meet a life that has already learnt to bow, serve and remain faithful.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: Am I more interested in receiving blessing than in becoming the kind of person who can carry it well? What attitude in me could turn a future blessing into a spiritual danger?

PRAYER: Father, form in me the disposition of a true son. Make me able to attract, receive and retain every blessing You appoint without allowing it to draw my heart away from You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Some people slowly make compromise look normal.

Some people sharpen your vision.

Some people blur it.

The Bible says:

And again:

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” — 1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV

That means you must audit your relationships.

Who has access to your ears?

Who influences your decisions?

Who shapes your standards?

Who do you become after spending time with certain people?

Do they move you closer to God or make you spiritually careless?

Do they strengthen your consecration or make compromise easier?

Do they sharpen your assignment or distract you from it?

You cannot be careless about company and serious about destiny at the same time.

Choose people who strengthen your walk with God.

Choose people who respect your convictions.

Choose people who sharpen your vision.

Choose people who help you become more accurate in your divine assignment.

DECLARE IT: I WILL NOT ALLOW WRONG COMPANY TO COMPROMISE MY DESTINY. GOD WILL SURROUND ME WITH PEOPLE WHO SHARPEN MY VISION, STRENGTHEN MY FAITH, AND HELP ME WALK ACCURATELY IN HIS PURPOSE.
