Yeah, no. There is no valid reason to use AI even for this usage. Reference materials exist, artists are paid to develop their ideas, you don’t need to run an idea through genAI to then draw it anyways.
I’d rather things I pay for be crafted by humans from start to finish.
My take on the Crazy Taxi AI thing is that the actual use of AI for the process is so minimal that going into panic mode about it is unhelpful, but pressuring SEGA for statements like this is a very good thing. Let them know we do NOT want this in our games
Generative AI used at any level of development is bad, no matter how little is used. Doesn’t make devs lives easier, feeds all these insane servers making all your consoles so expensive, stop trying to compromise and actually push back when it’s not convenient.
I don’t care how little Sega has used generative AI, any use of it makes my excitement for any of their things go down the drain. This thing is going to have dire consequences to our world.
What the fuck is even their problem?? They’ve been fine without it. Everyone has.
Extremely disappointing and sets up a terrible precedent for the future of SEGA's games and larger industry as a whole with this being done in such a high profile release.
And that's it for me, not buying anything @SEGA if I see Gen AI involved.
Don't want your slop. You're a company with more money than God, you can pay actual people to do actual work.
You know one of the worst things about Sega using AI is?
Ppl are gonna use it to make fun of the games rather than show concern over the company forcing this into development. I’m already seeing how Sonic is gonna get slandered when all that energy should be going to hating Sega
