🌱 Pro Farmer projects U.S. soybean yield at 53.3 bpa, above USDA’s 52.7.

PF soybean yield has topped USDA in just 8 of the last 20 Augusts.

PF’s 53.3 is its second-highest yield forecast on record, behind 54.9 in 2024.

🌽 Pro Farmer projects U.S. corn yield at 173.2 bpa, well below USDA’s 180.7.

PF corn yield has now come in below USDA in 16 of the last 20 Augusts.

The 7.5-bushel PF-USDA shortfall is the largest for August in at least 20 years.

As a group Cards starting pitchers came into Thursday with a 6.41 ERA when facing a lineup for the third time.

And now, after Thursday's 6th inning:

1st time through: 2.94 ERA
2nd time through: 3.63 ERA
3rd time through: 6.60 ERA

Good grief.

On the other hand when Marmol pulls starters after 5 innings -- even when they're pitching well -- he often gets ripped. Which I can understand because of the fans' anxiety over the bullpen. Based on the numbers, pushing for that extra inning is risky business. Baseball in 2026.

- Since May 20, team is 12 games under .500. But starters are 2nd in NL in Fielding Independent ERA (3.67) and 4th in quality starts.
-- Since June 11, team with worst record in NL; starters are 2nd in NL in FIP (3.60) and t-3 in QS.
-- Since June 17, team has worst record in NL but starters are 2nd NL in FIP (3.47) and t-4 in QS.
-- Since July 5, worst record in NL but starters are No. 1 in NL with 3.24 FIP and t-4th in QS.
-- Since ASB, team's 4-12 record (before Sunday) is worst in majors but starters rank 3rd NL in FIP (3.37) and a tied for 1st in quality starts.

🇧🇷Brazilian soybean production has TRIPLED.
🇨🇳Chinese soybean imports have nearly QUADRUPLED.
🇧🇷Brazilian soybean exports have nearly QUINTUPLED.

The forward agreement is better, but not great. China is set to buy 25 million metric tons of American soybeans in each of the next three years.

That would be 13% below the recent five-year average and 31% below 2016/17's record.

Unless something unexpectedly changes, 2025/26 U.S. soybean exports to China are on track to be:

At Minute Maid Park, in game 5 of the NLCS, the Astros were one out away from their first World Series appearance - but Albert Pujols saved the Cardinals by hitting a stunning three-run home run off Brad Lidge in the ninth inning, and the Cardinals rallied for a 5-4 victory.

McGee has two home runs to drive in four runs and makes two great catches, including one in the 9th inning, as the St. Louis Cardinals wins 6–2 over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game Three of the World Series.

Joaquín Andújar is the winning pitcher despite having to leave the game after being hit by a line drive.

It’s August 1 and the @Cardinals are 55-55. From April 30-May 31 they went 21-6. So otherwise, they have gone 34-49. Busch Stadium is going to have a lot of empty seats these next two months. Once unthinkable, the @Cardinals could drop to the lower third of MLB in avg attendance
