🚆 MRTS Services Extended up to St. Thomas Mount from 14th March 2026.

Chennai Division of Southern Railway will extend MRTS services from Velachery to St. Thomas Mount from 14th March 2026.

The 4.5 km MRTS extension includes three stations – Puzhuthivakkam (PZV), Adambakkam (ABKM) and St. Thomas Mount (STM). With the commissioning of this section, St. Thomas Mount will serve as the terminal station for the MRTS services.

Trains will halt at Puzhuthivakkam Railway station as per the timetable. Due to operational reasons, trains will not stop at Adambakkam Railway Station at present. Stoppage at Adambakkam Railway station will be notified later.

Train services from 14th March 2026:

• Chennai Beach – St. Thomas Mount: 43 pairs
• Chennai Beach – Velachery: 2 pairs
• St. Thomas Mount – Velachery: 3 pairs

The revised timetable for MRTS services, applicable on all days, is enclosed.

The extension strengthens suburban rail connectivity and enables seamless interchange with Chennai Metro at St. Thomas Mount, an important multimodal transport hub.

மாநில அளவிலான இணைப்பை துரிதப்படுத்துகிறது!

சென்னை மற்றும் ��ோயம்புத்தூர் நகரங்களை அவற்றின்அண்டை பிராந்திய மையங்களுடன் இணைக்கும் பிராந்திய விரைவு போக்குவரத்து அமைப்பு (Regional Rapid Transit System - RRTS) நெட்வொர்க்குகளை வரையறுக்க சென்னை மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிறுவனம் ஒரே நேரத்தில் மூன்று சாத்தியக்கூறு ஆய்வுகளைத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது. பிராந்திய விரைவுப் போக்குவரத்து அமைப்பு, என்பது அரை-அதிவேக / அதிவேக (160–200 கிமீ/மணி மற்றும் அதற்கு மேல்), இரயில் அடிப்படையிலான அமைப்பாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது, இது நகரங்களுக்கு இடையேயான தூரங்களை 30-60 நிமிட பயண நேரங்களில், சாலைப் பயணத்தை விட மிக வேகமாக, அதிகபயணிகள் எண்ணிக்கையை கொண்டு செல்லக்கூடியதாக இருக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

ஆய்வில் உள்ள மூன்று வழித்தடங்கள்
• சென்னை - செங்கல்பட்டு - திண்டிவனம் - விழுப்புரம் (170 கி.மீ.)
• சென்னை - காஞ்சிபுரம் - வேலூர் (140 கி.மீ.)
• கோவை - திருப்பூர் - ஈரோடு - சேலம் (185 கி.மீ.)

இந்த மூன்று பணிகளுக்கும் சென்னை மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிறுவனம் ��ாலாஜி இரயில்ரோடு சிஸ்டம்ஸ் பிரைவேட்நிறுவனத்தை சாத்தியக்கூறு ஆய்வு ஆலோசகராக நியமித்துள்ளது. இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தில் சென்னை மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிறுவனத்தின் திட்ட இயக்குநர் திரு.தி.அர்ச்சுனன் மற்றும் பாலாஜி இரயில்ரோடு சிஸ்டம்ஸ் பிரைவேட் நிறுவனத்தின் பொது மேலாளர் (தெற்கு) டாக்டர்.எம்.ராபர்ட்ராஜசேகரன் ஆகியோர் கையெழுத்திட்டனர். இந்நிகழ்வில், சென்னை மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிறுவனத்தின் தலைமை பொ���ுமேலாளர்கள் திரு.டி.லிவிங்ஸ்டோன் எலியாசர் (திட்டம் திட்டமிடல் மற்றும் வடிவமைப்பு), திருமதி. ரேகா பிரகாஷ், (திட்டமிடல் மற்றும் வடிவமைப்பு), திரு. எஸ்.அசோக் குமார், (வழித்தடம் மற்றும் உயர்மட்ட கட்டுமானம்), டாக்டர். டி.ஜெபசெல்வின் கிளாட்சன் (ஒப்பந்தம் கொள்முதல்), சென்னை மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிறுவனம் மற்றும் ஒப்பந்ததாரர்கள் நிறுவனத்தின் உயர் அலுவர்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் உடனிருந்தனர்.

திட்டமிடப்பட்ட ஒவ்வொரு பிராந்திய விரைவு போக்குவரத்து அமைப்பு (Regional Rapid Transit System - RRTS) வழித்தடங்களுக்கும் மாற்று வழித்தட விருப்பங்களை ஆலோசகர்கள் ஆய்வு செய்வார்கள். நிலையங்கள், பணிமனைகள் மற்றும் பிற போக்குவரத்து முறைகளுடன் எளிதாக மாறி��் செல்லும் இடங்கள் ஆகியவை இதன் மூலம் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்படும். இந்த ஆய்வானது, வழித்தடங்கள்தரையில் இயங்க வேண்டுமா, உயர்த்தப்பட்டதா அல்லது சுரங்கப்பாதையில் இயங்க வேண்டுமா, நிலத் தேவைகள், சுற்றுச்சூழல் சார்ந்த பிரச்சினைகள் மற்றும் தோராயமான திட்டச் செலவு ஆகியவற்றைத் தீர்மானிக்கும்.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) had introduced the Digital Store Value Pass (SVP), available for public use since November 2022, offering metro commuters a more convenient, secure and cost-effective travel solution.

Exclusively available through the CMRL Mobile App, the SVP offers passengers a 20% discount on metro fares and remains valid for five years from the last recharge. Designed with commuter convenience and safety in mind, the SVP generates a unique QR code daily, ensuring secure, contactless entry into the metro network.

Commuters can recharge the pass with a minimum of ₹50 and maintain a maximum balance of ₹3000. The fare amount is deducted based on actual usage, with the remaining balance available for future rides.

In addition to fare savings, the SVP can also be used at CMRL parking lots, seamless entire transit experience and offering further discounts for metro users.
