DPM/FM @SihasakPh accompanied PM to attend the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Relations. The Summit was held at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation to advance the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership. Thailand reinforced multilateralism based on int’l law, and the ASEAN-centred regional architecture, and highlighted the importance of strengthening connectivity in logistics. Thailand sees strong potential for coop. in enhancing fertilizer supply chains, advancing agri innovation, and building food system resilience. Thailand also stressed education and human resource development to equip our peoples with future-ready skills. . (18 Jun 2026)

VFM Sarun met with Mr. Pierre Jaffre, President of Thai - European Business Association (TEBA), to continue econ. & investment coop. between Thailand and the European private sector and advance investment expansion in future-oriented industries in Thailand, incl. superyachts, aircrafts, aviation and renewable energy, as a follow-up on PM Anutin’s visit to Paris in May. PM delivered the statement, emphasizing Thailand’s strengths and efforts at regulatory reform to open up new economic opportunities to attract foreign investment. PM also highlighted Thailand as a regional leader in food and agriculture, tourism, medical services and green transition, and underlined three key areas: (1) connectivity, (2) trade and investment, and (3) people-to-people exchanges to foster economic cooperation between ASEAN Member Countries and Russia. Mr. Nassereddin Heidari, Amb. of Iran, reiterating Thailand’s request for facilitating the return of the remains of the deceased crew members from the Mayuree Naree vessel at the earliest opportunity. They also discussed the situation in the Middle East and facilitation of the passage of Thai-related commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz once the situation returns to normal. They exchanged views on political and economic developments in their respective countries, regional situations, and responses to recent global uncertainties. DPM/FM also stressed the promotion of Japan’s investment in Thailand in AI, robotics and digitalisation, as well as increasing Japan’s role in the region. (12 June 2026)

Both agreed to advance CSP to respond to global challenges, especially in the areas of economy, security, people-to-people exchanges, and high-level exchanges, ahead of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. DPM/FM also supported Japan’s Updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), which aligns with Thailand and ASEAN’s position. (12 June 2026)
