I finally realized why I love Munich so much.
The next time you’re impressed by how inviting and friendly a big city like this can feel, thank a city government with a passion for nurturing and protecting a people-friendly culture.
(1,3) You are tragically wrong @JohnCornyn. My daughter Jaime was 2nd to last to be murdered in Parkland. She was on the 3rd floor, shot with a single AR 15 bullet that severed her spinal cord. She needed 3 additional seconds to make it to safety. If not for the failed law

@azfaust @boehninglab 2) so unless the 7 year post doc is directly relevant to the science of the industrial role it will not add benefit to have a longer post doc. In my experience it is exceedingly rare that multiple PDs or an extended PD would be considered a positive differentiation on a resume
@azfaust @boehninglab 1) Short answer - no. Corporations define their positions based on level of experience, and will compare with their interns talent first. A scientist with 7 years of industrial experience has likely had two promotions and is becoming a specialist in their field
@azfaust @boehninglab 4) in that case, why not earn an industrial PHD salary for those three years, while building equity and more relevant industrial experience.
@azfaust @boehninglab 3) as scientist the question becomes whether a PD adds value to you personally. The observation I have seen is that entry PhDs will earn approx 10-15% less than entry PD, but a PhD with 3 years of industrial experience will earn the same as entry PD.
