@LoisSakany Managment, talent and focus. Used to be behind the berm and they used to have a robust “what’s next” designers weren’t afraid to push. If you look at what exactly succeeded back then it was cycles but that because they pushed too many styles and too many updates to winners
Now that I am a Colorado resident, I can weigh on this. This is silly. 14-year-old boys & girls all over the world play with a 24 second clock. That’s how all these little Jokic’s develop. @nuggets @CHSAA 🤷🏻♂️🏀 https://t.co/VbikbZQWAF
@MyFirstKicksPod@karidaniels In the Running Specialty channel Nike has been 4/5 in brands for the 20 years. This channel and technical running shoes have not been a priority. Churning out basic sneakers like infinity is not going to win customers back.
@MikeDSykes You were spot on. Also didn’t help when they left the category structure for gender categories. You don’t innovate around men’s shoes, you innovate around a running shoe. The PLM/Design/Development team need to be laser focused on the end consumer.
@karidaniels Less is more used to be their mantra with LE, Collab etc..
Would be interesting if they stepped back in time and did tight allocations to select brick and mortar and limited their DTC sales. Limits who could get it but would make it more exclusive.
@MikeDSykes Nothing speaks to innovation more than laying off people. What a joke. With their history in innovation they should never slipped this far. Took the focus off of new product and innovation for too long. All the experience they let go won’t help.
@karidaniels They may not be diversified enough. Too much energy into J1, blazer, dunk. Probably missing it on casual running most likely. On Running, Hoka, Brooks putting the hurt on Nike.
@karidaniels They should make a couple colors always available every six months and then drop LE. Give the masses a basic color (like dunk panda) then have less LE.
@MehtabKarta Because consumers age 16-30 love the style aspect of retro Jordan’s. No other Nike product has that appeal. All other shoes are foot coverings with a swoosh.
@LoisSakany@matthewkish Nike has been #4/5 in the Running Specialty accounts for more than 20 years. Other brands have beat Nike on fit and feel for a long time. Nike put their focus on the mall, sporting goods, and mass merch. Nike makes “running inspired” shoes for foot coverings. Not performance.
