When the lights came on for the cross-town showdown between! @MHSRebelsMBB and Alcoa, Maryville did not just show up, they made a statement in blowout fashion, flexing dominance in every phase of the game and sending a loud reminde in the 101-52 win that this group is built different and peaking at exactly the right time, with an energy, focus, and execution that separated them from the opening tip as they dictated tempo, controlled the boards, defended with force, and turned every Alcoa push into an answer that kept the pressure on.
It was amazing and flat out fun to watch because this was a signature team win powered by three undeniable standouts who elevated their games to another level, starting with Big Luke Sigmund (@luke_sigmund35) anchoring the paint with power and presence as he finished through contact, cleaned the boards, protected the rim, and delivered 20 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks while setting the physical tone that never let up
The master facilitator Jonathan Woodlee(@WoodleeJonathan) controlled and pushed the pace with total command, orchestrating everything with poise and vision as he poured in 24 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, scoring when needed, creating when defenses collapsed, and keeping the game flowing firmly in Maryville’s favor with a triple-double performance that showcased leadership and control.
And the British Bulldog Eli Owensby(@EliOwensby) lived up to his name with relentless competitive fire, attacking from all three levels and finishing with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal while applying constant pressure, making winning plays, and feeding off the moment without ever backing down.
Together they were overwhelming, combining interior dominance, tempo control, and perimeter pressure into a complete performance built on chemistry, trust, and balance, as the ball moved, the defense rotated, the bench fed off the momentum, and Alcoa searched for answers that never came, turning a rivalry matchup into a clear warning that Maryville is hitting its stride at exactly the right time.
