We’re thrilled to wrap up a successful #AlumniTIES! In Birmingham, AL this week, 39 U.S. #ExchangeAlumni gathered to drive the conversation around #RuralEngagement in global affairs. With a chance to collaborate on community-based projects, we can’t wait to see what they do next.
This feels like only the beginning of a conversation and movement towards a more connected nation, and I am so excited to get to be a part of it. After learning from my colleagues this past week, I am so hopeful for the future. Thank you!!

So grateful for these new friends I got to learn from this week at the #AlumniTIES#RuralEngagement in #GlobalAffairs Seminar in Birmingham. It was incredible to gather to discuss creative solutions to challenges facing #RuralCommunities.
Thank you to @StateDept and @InternationalExchangeAlumni for recognizing the importance of rural people, rural communities and rural voices in the national conversation about connecting our country domestically and abroad.
I did a lot of stupid, often self-deprecating things just trying to get loved when I was younger. What a relief it is to understand, the problem wasn't that I was asking for too much. No, I was asking way too little.

We discovered what a literary magazine is and what editors do at our October workshop. We are excited to put this knowledge into practice as we create Issue 03 of Here. Literary Magazine!

We had a blast at our October Art Editorial Board workshop learning about the importance of art in the community and arts nonprofits. Thanks for treating us to pumpkin decorating!

I do know this: The blank space between two sections in an essay promises the ideas connect. Let us rest in these gaps while questions like rocks tumble around, as wet clothes in a hot dryer until they’re ready for us to wear them.
