Being a lawyer is hard but winning is very fun. I feel like there aren’t many jobs where a person in authority says “okay you are the winner” and then signs a little piece of paper declaring that to be true.
@bransfordalex During my first felony trial in which I majorly contributed, I called the judge by the wrong name in the first sentence of my closing. Just mistakenly called him by the name of the judge who I’d last appeared in front of.
Good news was I couldn’t mess up worse at that point.
This is despicable, and is a perfect example of 1) why people exit law school with anxiety when they didn’t have it previously and 2) why most lawyers have a poor work/life balance.
In the real world, courts are closed on Thanksgiving. Your office should be too.
One of the ways I keep students motivated over the holidays is by sending out a surprise (short!) essay question on Thanksgiving morning with a 2PM deadline, just to see which students are really motivated. The deadline provides plenty of time for food and merriment after!

This bag is what I used from like 5th grade on. My first one lasted 10+ years before I ove-stuffed it and split a seam. Still works great after a stitch job. Bought a new one when I was in law school. Weighed it once, came in at 54 lb. Fits A LOT.
Something the "groomer" panic totally obfuscates is that childhood sex ed can teach kids how to avoid being taken advantage of by adults, by teaching them early what consent is and that their body is their own
In case you think abortion laws don’t matter: last week a pharmacist declined to fill a prescription for a patient of mine with an ectopic pregnancy citing SB8 restrictions.
The same medicine that saved my life in 2013 when I had my own ectopic pregnancy
