Hot 97 has officially announced its new morning show, welcoming TV host and comedian The Kid Mero to the lineup. On January 12, the legendary New York City hip-hop radio station revealed that Hot 97 Mornings With Mero will officially launch on January 13.
Bronx native Mero steps into the morning slot previously occupied by Ebro in the Morning, the long-running show that debuted in 2012 and became a cornerstone of the station’s programming.
After nearly 13 years on the air, Hot 97 ended the show in December, parting ways with Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez.
Following the announcement, Ebro publicly showed support for Mero, calling the move “so great” in a post on X.
Mero is best known as one-half of Desus & Mero, the critically acclaimed series that aired on Viceland and later Showtime. He currently is a cohost on 7PM in Brooklyn and continues to expand his presence across television, podcasting and comedy as he takes over one of New York radio’s most recognizable time slots.
