The Amyloidosis Army kicked off July in East Harlem at the Beatrice Lewis Senior Center in NYC. We had the honor of collaborating with “THE BEST DOCTOR IN HARLEM” Dr Icilma Fergus from Mt Sinai. This amazing cardiologist volunteers her time and brings a team of doctors and students lead by Nancy Thomas. This example should Inspire every doctor do not forget the underserved communities among us. We were able to give genetic testing for Amyloidosis as well as other health test to the community for free. The Amyloidosis Army volunteers were there special thank you to Johnny Boatman. An incredible teammate, Amyloidosis patient and double transplant warrior! Travels all the way from Virginia to share his story and journey to help bring awareness to the community. This is what working together can accomplish. Thank you to the staff at the Beatrice Lewis Center. They were the most gracious host anyone could ask for. My last thank you is to “my friend” incredible community care. We can’t wait for our next trip to Harlem!!!

The Amyloidosis Army wants to extend a huge thank you to the Kansas Department of Health & Environment. We want to recognize Drew Duncan Section Chief, Screening and Surveillance for his commitment to saving lives in Kansas through early diagnosis of Amyloidosis. Kansas is distributing 500 of these diagnostic charts for use throughout the state by health care providers. This is a much needed first in the battle of educating awareness in health care providers. Thank you goes to the International Cardio-oncology Society Executive Director Stephen J Casselli PhD for allowing us to use their great diagnostic charts.
