Ian Fleming initially wanted Alfred Hitchcock to direct the first James Bond movie. It didn't materialise. Cary Grant was also approached to play the character but it didn't work out as he committed to do only one movie.

The helicopter scene in "From Russia with Love" (1963) was Terrence Young's idea and is a homage to the scene in Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" (1959).

During the filming of this scene, a camera operator's leg was hit by the blades of the helicopter that came in too low and he had to have his foot amputated. Sean Connery too came close to death when an inexperienced pilot flew a little too close, endangering his life.

The Alphabet (1968) is a short film by David Lynch that was born out of a literal nightmare.

Lynch was inspired after his wife, Peggy Lynch, informed him about her young niece who used to have a disturbing dream where she continued to repeat the alphabet in her sleep. The studying of ABCs that seemed harmless became something dreadful. Lynch made that moment a surreal short film in which the alphabet becomes a mad and frightening experience. The movie echoes one of the recurring themes of Lynch, the dark that could be lurking behind seemingly innocent childhood events. Interestingly, the bed-ridden woman in the nightmare is portrayed by Peggy Lynch herself, which crosses the boundaries of reality, memory, and dream, an issue that Lynch was to venture into later on in his films. #filmtwt
