Located just northeast of Cincinnati, The Camargo Club sits tucked away on a stunning piece of rolling landscape in one of the country’s most affluent areas. From the moment you arrive on property, you quickly realize you’re in for a special day.

Doak and Placek used original photos and aerials to bring back many of the geometric bunkering that had been lost over time. Fairways were dramatically widened to bring back the strategic angling that Raynor loved in his designs. Greens were expanded back to original scale and they a truly massive in size.

The par 3’s get much of the attention and pictures produced but in my opinion, the par 4’s as a collection are what make TCC stand out. They are incredibly strategic off the tee, and they are stout in scale. You must get to the correct side of the fwys to have a proper angle into the very well protected greens. After playing the first 3 holes that gently start you off into your round, you quickly strap in and hit the par 4 fourth “Narrows”. The tee shot is somewhat blind and you must stay right for a proper angle into an extremely tight landing zone into the green. Other favs include the 7th Alps, the 13th Cape, the 14th Leven, and the 16th Maiden. All were fabulous renditions of their famous templates.

As most often discussed, the par 3’s are stellar. Eden, Biarritz, Short, and Redan are all as a good as advertised. I was particularly fond of the 8th Biarritz as the front portion is mown at fairway height and not as putt able green height.

Finally, the par 5 17th hole “Road”, has been transformed into one of the best renditions I’ve seen. Your drive must stay left away from trees and native area leaving a choice for your second shot to challenge getting close or on to the green or staying back leaving a short wedge in. The green is protected by a devilish front left bunker and an angled green is protected by a massive bunker the entire right and back sides. You must be precise or you’ll surely find one of them making your efforts for par a challenge.

Going into this round I honestly didn’t know what to expect? I had heard what a great place The Camargo Club was but just hadn’t seen many pics of it as it is pretty exclusive and doesn’t do many rounds. I had an open mind and can honestly say I was blown away by how good the golf course is. From start to finish, hole after hole, you’re just hit with one great one after another. The club is very low key and likes to stay under the radar. It’s an old generational family tied club. Truly one of a kind.

@WxFanaticCC She was really lucky she got out before the car caught fire. I actually had something similar happen once on I-64—my check engine light started flashing, and then I saw thick smoke coming from under the hood. It was scary, but thankfully it didn’t catch fire
