Here's my personal opinion: The gay community needs to stop treating youth like the highest form of attractiveness.

There's something beautiful about a man who has grown older, developed confidence, built a life, experienced heartbreak and still has the courage to put himself out there and find love.

A 45-year-old gay man shouldn't feel that his romantic opportunities are over because he no longer looks like the 22-year-old version of himself.

And before anyone misunderstands me, nobody is obligated to date someone they're not attracted to. Age preferences are valid, and healthy relationships require appropriate boundaries.

But having a preference doesn't require humiliating people who don't fit it.

One day, the 25-year-olds making jokes about ageing will be 45 too.

So let me ask: Is the gay community genuinely ageist, or has the obsession with youth simply become part of modern dating culture?

Some movie friendships end when the cameras stop rolling.

Then there's Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, whose interactions gave Marvel fans another reason to love them outside their characters. 😂

Tony Stark and Captain America had their differences on screen, but their real-life banter made the press tours entertaining, too.

I don't think we talk enough about how cruel the gay dating scene can be towards ageing men.

Apparently, you're supposed to be young, muscular, handsome, have perfect skin and maintain a certain body type to remain desirable.

Once you start getting grey hair, develop a few wrinkles, lose your six-pack or turn 40, some people suddenly treat you like you've expired.

I've seen older gay men being mocked for expressing interest in younger men, even when they're respectful and understand boundaries.

I've also seen men in their 30s and 40s desperately trying to look 20 because they believe getting older means becoming invisible.

And honestly, it makes me sad.

I was 39 when Marcus found out I’d been seeing someone else.

It wasn’t a one-night thing. It was six months of late meetings, deleted messages, and the particular shame of lying to a man who’d once held my hand through my mother’s funeral. Marcus didn’t rage. He didn’t pack a bag. He just looked at me across the kitchen island like he was seeing a stranger wearing my face, then said, “I need you to sleep in the guest room from now on.”

That was the last time he touched me with anything resembling desire.

We stayed together for twelve years after that.

We still shared the house in Portland. We still co-parented our two rescue dogs. We still showed up to the same holiday dinners with his sister’s family and smiled for the same group photos. To everyone else we were just one of those quieter older couples. Behind the front door we were two men who had mastered the art of existing in the same space without ever really meeting.

Pedro Pascal and Oscar Isaac have the kind of friendship that makes you wonder what happens when the cameras aren't around. 😂

Imagine being invited to their dinner table.

You'd probably leave with three inside jokes, five embarrassing stories and absolutely no idea how the conversation got there.

Let’s be honest about something in relationships that people get uncomfortable discussing. 🏳️‍🌈

Some people believe that if a man is masculine and his boyfriend is feminine, the masculine one should automatically pay the bills, provide the lifestyle, and take care of everything financially.

But what happens when he gets tired? Is he suddenly a bad boyfriend for wanting support too?

Being the masc doesn't automatically make you somebody's husband, father, and ATM. If a fem man wants a provider, is that a valid relationship preference, or is he expecting his partner to fulfill a role he never agreed to?

And if you're the masc dating a fem man, would you happily provide everything, or do you expect your man to contribute financially too? 👀
