@MattWalshBlog While you are right in principle, you are a bit out of touch (or math is wrong). The main cost is from the protein. If all 8 got a 1/4lb of beef, that would be 2lbs. But if you have small kids that don’t eat much and mix with beans, you could get away with a lb. $6 on sale.

Endurance will be required of Christ-followers. Do you know how you learn to endure? By enduring. Unfortunately, there’s not a magic cream or pill for endurance. A Spirit-directed life doesn't mean every day is easy or every day is filled with applause, cheers, or affirmation. Sometimes we're asked to do difficult things—do them anyway. Sometimes we're asked to hold unpopular opinions—hold them anyway. Sometimes we're asked to be advocates for Jesus when we don't understand fully or have a complete grasp of the situation—do your best to be faithful in the moment. There are going to be challenges; there are going to be more voices in opposition—but let's decide that we will press on and endure whatever may come.

If the Church doesn't become the Church and influence other people to be Christ-followers, we're missing our calling. We have to share our faith. We have to have a heart to see our neighbors, our families, our friends, and our coworkers become Christ-followers. And when they tell us to be quiet, we can't be quiet. It's not love to be quiet in the face of darkness.

It's easy to think the answer to America's problems is one more election, one more policy, or one more political victory. But while politics matters, it can't change the human heart. Real transformation begins when people encounter Jesus��and that's why the Church can't afford to sit on the sidelines. If we want to see our nation changed, it starts with us living out the gospel wherever God has placed us.

We shouldn't think that leading with our faith is going to be seamless, easy, and fun. There will be times you'll feel awkward, but it's worth it. Not everybody will cheer. It's okay. They didn't all cheer for Jesus.

We've distilled Christianity down to a “convenience” thing. We think that following God will be easy and simple. Jesus did not really attempt to make what He was teaching either easy or simple. I'm not opposed to comfort and convenience. In fact, I prefer them when I can choose. But we should never forfeit the gifts or opportunities God gives us so that we can worship at the altar of comfort and convenience.

We're walking through a season in which people call evil good. If you stand up for a biblical worldview, there are people who will call you evil. It's caused many of us to be timid, lower our voices, and be far more reserved in the expression of our faith. But God is bringing forth a generation of people who will stand up for the name of Jesus and willingly be ambassadors for Him.

What if the Church was never meant to play defense?

Jesus didn't describe His Church as hiding from the darkness—He said the gates of hell would not withstand it. Even if God's people are outnumbered, we are never overpowered because the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. In a world that feels increasingly unstable, we're not called to live in fear. We're called to be ambassadors of the Kingdom—bringing hope, truth, and the light of Christ wherever we go.

If God is moving, why are there frequent expressions of evil?

We can expect there will be opposition to God's objectives and expressions of the Holy Spirit. That is evident throughout Scripture, from Moses, to Daniel, and all the way to Jesus. In the midst of the challenges they faced, they didn't focus on the darkness; they kept their attention fixed on what God was doing. Instead of allowing fear and anxiety to occupy your heart, choose to celebrate every expression of godliness you can find.

The first-century Church didn't turn the world upside down because they had better facilities or more resources. They changed the world because they were convinced Jesus was Lord, and there was no amount of pressure, intimidation, ridicule, or persecution that could convince them otherwise.

We're going to need that kind of conviction again. Because the challenges before us aren't theoretical. They aren't academic exercises. They are real. They affect our families, our communities, our children, and our future.

The question isn't if there will be opposition. There has always been opposition wherever God is moving. The question is whether the people of God have the resolve to remain faithful in the midst of it.
