The value of construction contracts in October was still higher than in the 1st half of 2018 but it has been falling since August & given the current uncertainty expect to see further falls in new contract awards (except for housing & warehouses) in November.
In October 2018, the value of new construction contracts was 3.8% lower than September & 23.5% lower than a year ago. Half of the contracts in October were residential (40%) or industrial warehouses (10%). @MichaelGDall in @BarbourABI.

A release of two halves in the monthly UK GDP. The good news is v decent growth of 0.7% QoQ in the three months to August.. BUT all the growth in June & July. Growth stalled in August - consistent with a wider basket of activity data.
Growth in #construction output due to broad growth across sectors with infrasturcture and housing repair and maintenance showing the strongest increases https://t.co/O25vMnNUfq
