As I travel to Arizona to make presentations inside federal prisons, I’m encouraged by the continued growth of Prison Professors:

What do those numbers mean?

They represent thousands of people using time in prison to learn, document their progress, develop skills, and prepare for success upon release.

That’s why I’m beginning another tour of prisons across several states. It’s also why we’re launching a new initiative to collaborate with federal defense attorneys and introduce more people to our free resources.

Every participant who prepares for success strengthens families and communities. By helping people develop skills that can lead to better income opportunities, we work to end intergenerational cycles of poverty and recidivism.

We now have 8,719 active participants using our platform to prepare for success upon release from prison. Together, they’ve written 16.5 million words and earned 82,615 points. I transferred from prison to a halfway house on 8/13/2012. I had never held an iPhone before. When I learned how to use it, I filmed a video sharing the work I intened to do. It is what led to Prison Professors, and support from leaders like @cz_binance and @PrisonProf_BNB. True to the mission.

8/13 has become a meaningful date in my life.

8/13/2012: I transferred from prison to a halfway house.

8/13/2024: I drove to Lompoc federal prison, picked up @cz_binance, and I drove him to a halfway house.

8/13/2026: I learned that the @PrisonProf_BNB community has surpassed 1,000 $BNB donations to support our mission.

From receiving an opportunity to begin rebuilding my own life, to helping someone else begin his transition, to seeing a community come together to help us serve others.

Yesterday marked 39 years since my arrest.

Thirteen years ago today, on August 12, 2013, I concluded my obligation to the Bureau of Prisons after 9,500 days.

I completed that chapter with my dignity intact and a commitment to use the lessons I learned to serve others.

And all resources remain in the cold-storage wallet, untouched, until next summer. We're building and building, proud that more than 8,500 people are using our platform to document their preparations for success. They've published more than 15.5 million words.

I was scheduled to visit a federal prison this week. Instead, I’m in Miami meeting with a medical team.

Plans change. The commitment doesn’t.

I’m focusing on strong health today so I can keep serving, contributing, and making an impact in 2027 and beyond.

39 years ago today, on August 11, 1987, DEA agents arrested me.

I was 23 years old.

I served the next 26 years in federal prison.

Those years taught me that while we cannot change the past, we can choose what we build from it.

For clarity: My recent posts about Coinbase concern my personal account and personal assets.

No funds donated to Prison Professors were held in the affected Coinbase account. The BNB donated to our nonprofit remains separate, protected in cold storage, and reserved for our charitable mission.

I am grateful to everyone who has supported our work, and I want there to be no uncertainty about the safety of those donated resources.

I can confirm that all donations will remain in cold storage until at least the summer of 2027, and until we have a fully developed plan for the highest and best use of those resources.
