📢 My Thoughts On Josh Acheampong So Far This Season

Acheampong looked comfortable in Chelsea’s defensive setup, he didn't appear to be overwhelmed by the responsibility, instead he showed a matured sense of readiness for whatever the match had in store for him, with a positional discipline and composure under pressure to go with it.

One encouraging aspect of his game, is his ability to contribute during the build-up. He helped initiate the move leading to João Pedro’s goal in the 2nd half. Which shows the value of having a defender who can progress the ball.

Acheampong’s performance suggests he could become a useful option in Alonso’s defensive system. Comfortable on the ball, can operate in a back 3 and his growing tactical maturity, gives Chelsea and Alonso another young reliable player rather than relying on the transfer market.

His consistency, defensive awareness against stronger opposition and decision making under sustained pressure will be important tests as he gains more experience.

My Verdict: Acheampong may not have been the star of Chelsea’s 5–1 victory over Bournemouth, but his display reinforced the idea that Chelsea have a promising young defender capable of growing into a more significant role under Alonso.
