Treasury Bills Investment.

T-bills investments are considered to be one of the safest form of investments because they are backed by the full faith of the Nigerian govt.

T-bills are short-term debt securities issued by the Nigerian govt to make up for budget deficit or fund some projects.

In simple terms, T-bills are legal means through which the Nigerian govt borrow money from its citizens for a certain period of time.

In exchange for the money they borrow from the citizens, they issue treasury bills via the CBN and pay back with interest.

Investing in T-bills simply means you are giving the govt a loan to fund some of its projects.

T-bills are always tenured for 91 days, 182 days, or 364 days.

You can choose how long you want your T-bills investments to run depending on the tenure - the longer the tenure, the higher the interest yield.

Currently, the Nigerian T-bills investment offers an annual interest rate of 21% to 23% per annum.

T-bills is offered via both the primary market and the secondary market.

At the primary market, you are buying directly from the CBN and can only invest with a minimum of 50 million naira.

T-bills investment at the primary can be made via commercial banks, brokerage firms, or asset management companies.

However, at the secondary market, you can invest in T-bills with as little as 10,000 naira via online brokerage firms like Bamboo, i-Invest, and even commercial banks.

So, to invest in T-bills, simply download the Bamboo or i-Invest app to make your investment or invest via your bank.

It is also worthy to mention that you can request an upfront payment of your T-bills interest when investing via banks.

That's all there is to treasury bills investment.
