How often do you hear “speed was not a factor” in a crash? They mean the driver wasn’t exceeding the (probably too high) speed limit. Remember, when it comes to the likelihood that vehicle crashes will occur, & whether the consequences are deadly or not, SPEED IS ALWAYS A FACTOR.

Classes for @ClarkCountySch students begin on Monday, August 10, 2 weeks from today. Tomorrow, the Crossing Guard Company is hosting a hiring event to recruit crossing guards for the upcoming school year.

At today’s @LVCVA Board Meeting, I discussed a new partnership with @F1LasVegas to support @ClarkCountyNV’s efforts to reduce crashes around schools. 427 crashes (25-26) is unacceptable, and it will take each of us working together to do better.

On July 4, @ClarkCountyFD responded to 176 calls involving outside fires and 26 building/vehicle fires. On a typical day, they respond to an average of 15 outside fires and 6 building fires. 30 citations for illegal fireworks were issued, and nearly 700lbs of fireworks collected.

Many pets go missing on the #4thofJuly due to fireworks. Fireworks can cause pets to panic and escape. Pet owners should keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure space, make sure they wear a collar with ID tags, and verify that their microchip information is current.
