Day 10 of 10. A launch party it has been. We are getting very close to being ready for the @HillbrookSchool upper school to begin in 38 days. Today we worked on our classes, focusing on #competency-based learning, and dove into the nuts and bolts of operating a school.

Day 9 of 10. Defining course-specific and disciplinary competencies. Also having lots of fun! The @HillbrookSchool upper school team has made so much progress these two weeks. One more day to go before a short break!
Day 7 of 10. @HillbrookSchool middle school Ts are joining the expanding high school Ts to help build a programmatic bridge between the divisions and campuses. More importantly, we are taking time to build relationships across campuses.
Today’s training on Restorative Practices (RP) affirmed, through theory and practice, that RP is first and foremost about building a positive community (not discipline).

Sharing our long-standing commitment to Diversity, Equity and inclusion and Justice in Action. Later we’ll be visiting the King library, which we’ll use as our research library. Afternoon— immersive planning!
Day 4 of 10 of the @HillbrookSchool upper school “Launch Party”– the morning was an orientation to faculty offices at @WeWork, a presentation on UDL, and time to create academic classes. Afternoon: continuation of building our trans disciplinary Immersive classes.

Day 3 of 10 in building the @HillbrookSchool high school is focused on building our 3-week Immersive classes using the city as a classroom. These trans disciplinary courses focused on social impact will prepare students to tackle complex problems with confidence and competence.
