@SCShipyards Phasers are *boring* now since they're just an undodgeable hit scan beam while torpedoes are slow projectiles they can have a ship nimbly dodge like it's a bloody star fighter instead of frigate.
RIP Peter David.
I grew up loving his Hulk, X-Factor, and Spider-Man 2099 comics, and also read his Star Trek novels. He was an enormously talented writer with a wicked sense of humor that always made me laugh no matter what he was writing. I’m sorry to hear that he’s passed. 😞
@MoonageDaydre4m@ReviewsPossum Actually seems to have a surprisingly good track record when the source material is a short story, but is almost always a cluster fuck when done to a full novel or series.
@TheBaconOvrlord It's Dragon's Dogma, so presumably they're annoyed they can't make a really hot female Pawn to accompany their player character. Making your own npc waifu companion was pretty much the series' main gimmick over every other fantasy open world game.
@DaddyWarpig This is what happens when both major adaptions of a series decided to skip out on the "fall" part of what was supposed to be a rise and fall story so everyone assumes it really is unironically a story about the chosen one defeating the evil empire and living happily ever after.
@RobertsSpaceInd Wow, that's some huge damn balls to drag that bloody sandworm bullshot back out after eight years, even when it's since become a symbol of your broken promises and empty hype.
@MalRoadkill Yeah, at least those changes were usually done out of laziness or just actual poor translation (or that bizarre thing where they'd try to combine multiple shows into one story to fill a episode number count quota) now it's done for weird self delusion and even active malice.
@Exalted_Speed Aww, but Maggott would make such thematically appropriate Famine that I'm shocked some X writer hasn't already done it yet. His back story is even literally being a poor starving African child.
@Exalted_Speed I liked HoM's affect on the Ms Marvel series that launched afterwards. The whole "life long fuck up gets a brief taste of respectable and now wants to actually become better hero for real" concept was a solid idea for a book. Shame how that would go on to turn out though.
@DAKKADAKKA1 From a modern perspective it is wild that someone once thought it was reasonable and practical to have the *every* game cartridge include basically half a computer worth of components inside them instead of just making them be glorified floppy disks in a plastic case
@AMTTactical Because the pod racing plot needed to happen to sell toys and video games so we're going to pretend the biggest trading port on the planet wouldn't have anywhere to convert a form of currency that existed for centuries and is used by like 70% of known space.
@ShitpostRock They already had a template for the exact game people wanted (next gen Black Flag but with some sort of pvp mode thrown in) and over a decade to work on it, and yet they still managed to fail spectacularly.
@hentaikid well, I'm glad they thought the random army girl was cute. I had been worried that I should have used some Nikke or Girls Frontline gacha thot instead.

@doxyonta I'd disagree simply because I think a major component of a cyberpunk world IS that it should seem cool and shiny on the surface then horrify you once you look under the chromed exterior. It's the glossed up supermarket apple you take a bite of then only to find the inside rotting
