2021/22 Season ✅
My first full season as a swim coach involved; two new clubs, leading my first squad into Counties, working with swimmers from Learn to Swim up to British National Champions, and attending my first Summer Nationals at Welsh Nationals this week 🏴🥇
Jersey's first Gold medal in the Commonwealth Games for 36 YEARS! 🤯
18-year-old Filip Nowacki wins the men's 200m breaststroke final and makes history 👏
Gold for Filip Nowacki! 2:07.87 and he wins Jersey’s first gold medal since 1990! A terrific swim under a lot of pressure. Oliver Dawson takes silver and Zac Stubblety-Cook bronze. Greg Butler was 4th very close to his PB. Josh Mitchell and George Smith 6th and 7th.
A STUNNING 🇬🇧 1-2 in the men’s European 200m Freestyle final, but that is only a small segment of the story..
Hear from winner @Dunks_Scott & runner-up @Jackmac121 on a “special” night for the pair in Lublin..

Southampton become the earliest team to be relegated in Premier League history 🔴
After gameweek 31, they have earned just 10 points 📉
An unwanted record for the Saints 📜
Said it multiple times, but wouldn’t be in the job I am coaching wise without getting the experience of seeing the work and dedication these two put in to their roles with the CoE
Best of luck in the new role @pat_suraci@_JLea_ , look forward to seeing you both smash it
🏊♂️💨Saturday Speed 🏊🏼♀️💨
Simple
Succinct
SPEED ‼️
The main sentiment of the whole practice I believe lies in the “LS- Long Sprint” group.
The 75 is to be the 500 pace of time trials earlier in week. At different phases, your goal time(s).
🗣️ “If you’re NOT able to hit this Pace, then we need more SPEED!! You can swim all day, but if you can’t hit the speeds/ paces needed we won’t get better!” - @Sprintsalo
This is 1️⃣ of the most potent components I’ve learned since training w/ @SirHerb_the3rd for the past 4️⃣ years. BOTH Aerobic & Anaerobic attributes are needed! There is always a “limiter” for each athlete. However, more often than not, Maximal Velocity is the limiter for an athlete!
If we fill a glass🍵 , then put that same water in a bigger glass we are able to fill the new cup w/ a greater capacity ⬆️.
Speed-Reserve operates in a similar pattern.
If your “ceiling” (Top Velocity) is set, the capacity below 👇 is limited. If your “ceiling” (Top Velocity) IMPROVES 📈, you have greater room/ opportunity to increase capacity at higher intensities.
IMO-This is one of the MOST important aspects for the swim 🏊 community to understand & implement.
Amelie Blocksidge starred whilst Portsmouth Northsea took ✌️ golds in the 5km races at the Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships 🌊
Lucas Bryant from Maidenhead also took to the top step of the podium in the afternoon session!
