With states & districts making tough budget decisions in response to COVID-19, we’ve joined more than a dozen groups to tell leaders to prioritize our most vulnerable students as we look towards the coming school year. Read the press release to learn more: https://t.co/p9BIRQa0xE
I’m hearing from and seeing a lot of posts from teachers concerned that students are not as engaged as they usually are now that we are working virtually. I have a couple of thoughts on this:
School bus drivers delivering lunches to students, US mail carriers, those keeping our utilities running - please be sure to thank the unsung heroes of this situation.
ISBE and @iarssil have issued guidance on school calendars. Please keep accurate records, but do not worry about calendar coding or revisions at this time. ROEs/ISCs and school districts will address calendars collaboratively in June: https://t.co/PJTohkTZgg
Great quote, and this is one of the fault lines leaders have to guard. The first question I ask about any prospective leader is can they have the hard conversations and do the hard (but right) things. Because downwind of this is serving students, the most important fault line.
