The #LACoFD international USAR team, known as USA-2, has been activated by the @StateDept to respond to Venezuela in the wake of the earthquakes that hit the country’s center.  

The USA-2 team departed this evening. USA-2 is comprised of 71 members, 6 canine teams & includes 84,000 pounds of equipment. USA-2 joins the @VATF1 to provide search, rescue & recovery assistance. 

Our thoughts are with all those impacted by these devastating earthquakes & we wish all the responding first responders safe travels as they assist during this time of great need.

🇫🇷 À la demande du Président de la République @Elysee, la France déploie un détachement du 4ème et 7ème régiment d'instruction et d'intervention de Sécurite civile (@riisc_7) rattaché à la Brigade des militaires de la sécurité civile (BMSC), spécialisée dans le secours en milieu effondré (USAR), à la suite du violent séisme qui a frappé le #Venezuela 🚒👩‍🚒

Composée de spécialistes du sauvetage-déblaiement, d'équipes médicales et cynotechniques🐕, cette unité vient renforcer les capacités des secours locaux pour rechercher, localiser et extraire les victimes ensevelies sous les décombres, comme elle l'avait fait lors du séisme en Turquie en 2023.

La France dispose de plusieurs équipes USAR classifiées par les Nations unies, reconnues pour leur haut niveau d'expertise. En autonomie complète, elles sont en mesure d'être projetées en quelques heures avec l'ensemble de leurs moyens opérationnels afin d'intervenir dans les environnements les plus dégradés.

Cette mission témoigne de l'engagement de la France au service de la solidarité internationale. Elle est conduite en coordination avec nos partenaires et s'inscrit dans le cadre du Mécanisme de protection civile de l'Union européenne, qui permet d'agréger les capacités opérationnelles de plusieurs États européens.
