Perplexing that Government can fast-track the Finance Bill and Social Welfare Bill but we have been waiting decades for #Homecare Legislation to be advanced and implemented 🤔#HomecareNow
@ColetteKelleher@MuireannNiR I thought Drew Harris confirmed to the Oireachtas that these blockades are illegal and those involved should face legal consequences? @HMcEntee, these micro racist acts lead to macro racist riots. Please act!

Some harrowing statistics and facts complied by Care Alliance Ireland.
12.5% of over 15s in Ireland care for a friend or family.
68% face financial distress
71% feel isolated from society
Who will care for the carers?

Today is a monumental day for Ireland as we finally move from the archaic 1871 Lunacy Act to the progressive, empowering Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Act, 2015 with a strong emphasis on will and preference @DSS_Ireland@IASW_IRL
1) @ReginaDo@NewstalkFM We do not agree that the govt is supporting people to stay at home. How many waiting on care packages? What is govt doing to respect the right to choose where to live? How many are strongly coerced into care?
Home care regulations should strengthen provider training and competency assessment. Regs strengthening provider training & competency assessment would allow greater flexibility for a home care worker to attain minimum educational qualifications whilst working as a carer.
However, minimum educational qualifications can deter people from becoming home care workers. Neither are educational qualifications a panacea for home care regulations and standards.
