Penn State baseball published their 2026-27 roster on Tuesday, here are some takeaways:

-38 players on the roster. 34 is the NCAA limit, but they had 39 last season so we’ll see what happens.
-Genei Sato, widely expected to go pro in 2027, is listed as a senior anyway.

As much as the college wrestling fan in me want to see this dual, I understand why PSU hesitates.

I seem to remember their “biggest competition” last year completely falling apart in February and March because of how hard they went at National Duals in November.

One more addition to the Penn State/Oklahoma State “thing” -

Penn State has a winning formula. It works year in and year out. There’s no reason to change it until it stops working.

The analysis on why a dual won’t happen is that simple.

Similarly, Oklahoma State has discovered its own formula, and has made substantial gains over the last 2 years. It is going to continue down that path because it’s working.

If those 2 formulas end up clashing, you’ll see a dual. Until then, we can all just have fun yapping at each other….

With how soft the schedule is, you gotta win nine games. I can excuse some ugly wins and maybe a slip up loss but you gotta win at least one of Washington/Michigan/USC for this season to feel good.

Realistically, 9-3 or 10-2. 11-1 is attainable if things go right.

Feels like it’s a slam dunk to market Hali back in MSG, but NEITHER game is nationally televised and are:

-off a B2B in November
-Game 82, which will likely be meaningless for someone
