We put so much emphasis on length when it comes to life but in reality, nobody want to be old.
You may want to have a long life but you don't want to be "old".
When I die, you can say whatever you'd like about me but don't say that I left "too soon".
I really could not care less if I die in 4 months or 4 years or 40 years.
It really has no significance to me at all.
It's really interesting how we presume everyone should live to old age & simultaneously, we neglect & reject the elderly.
You were taught that the world is ancient & that you are new to it.
In reality, you're the Ancient One & the world is always new to you.
The world is created & destroyed every moment.
It is you that always is.
It is you that always has been & always will be.
We're taught that life is an unbeaten path that we must forge on our own when in reality, it is more like a lazy river -
all we really need to do is surrender and allow life's current to carry us where we need to be.
When life stops making sense, trying to make sense of it will only make you feel worse.Instead, just be present.
Don't identify.
Don't anticipate.
Don't regret.
Accept everything that has brought you to this moment & just be.
My heart has been broken so many times.
But still, I have the capacity to love.
Ironically, it is heartbreak that enables me to love so deeply.
Because through breaking, my heart grew in capacity.
We think we'll start loving ourselves once we change but in reality we'll change once we start loving ourselves.
Because while love does not require change, it does inspire change - as the nature of love is to grow, to deepen, & to expand.
Love is not some external thing that has to be pursued & validated by others. Every time you have ever experienced love in your life, you experienced it inside of yourself.
Similarly, if we're not interested in studying the source of what causes us pain, we'll never gain the knowledge necessary to feel confident enough to start the process of healing ourselves.
When we're truly ready to heal, we become very interested in what causes us pain. If your doctor admitted to you that she wasn't really interested in studying medicine, you'd probably feel less confident in her ability to treat you.
At some point, what has happened to you in the past stops being a valid excuse for how you are in the present. If you want to have a happy life, you have to become fully accountable for it.
The only difference between a practice & a habit is intention.
A habit is a behavior you repeat unintentionally.
A practice is a behavior you repeat intentionally.
Habits lead to stagnation.
Practices lead to growth.
For instance, if I say I love myself because I'm kind then when a situation inevitably comes where I'm not kind, I'll lose love for myself.
Or if I say I love myself because I am pretty then when time inevitably takes my prettiness away, I'll lose love for myself.
We think we'll start loving ourselves once we change but in reality we'll change once we start loving ourselves.
Because while love does not require change, it does inspire change - as the nature of love is to grow, to deepen, & to expand.
