@Anthony__Koch Unfortunately we don't know if it's true or not, or if it was restricted to something narrow like, let's say, Chinese EVs. Point is, we don't know. And that's not right. ⬇️
Talks have failed and there are consequences and uncertainty for everyone.
There shouldn't be an absence of details, or major decisions being made based on speculation.
As an MP, I need to immediately know what was in the deal and the precise rationale for walking away.
Considering the changing story on the Gordie Howe bridge deal, every MP deserves full transparency from the government on what happened for their constituents, and to weigh whether or not the government's response is adequate.
No one - regardless of political stripe - should accept the current information vacuum or a "just take our word for it" approach from the government. Too much is at stake. The Liberals should agree with this.

@RobynUrback@terrynewman As a representative of 120,000ish Canadians I think it's reasonable - at this juncture now that talks are over (paused?) - for the PM to be transparent on this and many other issues. These issues are too critical to be left to speculation on X.

My two cents in trying to unpack the events of last evening in 🇨🇦🇺🇸 trade talks and what comes next:
1) If in fact the Trump Admin layered on last minute demands and concessions onto the negotiations (which wouldn’t be surprising coming from the likes of Lutnick and Navarro), PMMC and the Canadian negotiating team had little choice to walk away from the table;
2) A strong majority of Canadians understandably and rightly want to fight back against the unfair (and as SCOTUS has ruled) illegal tariff regime;
3) The changing story and concessions from Canada and PMMC (and corresponding reaction from Cdns) on what we gave up on the Gordie Howe bridge “deal” made any further wide-ranging concessions in these negotiations even more untenable;
4) 50% tariffs and countertariffs are going to hurt like hell and have immediate consequences for Canadian workers and businesses, will Canadians tolerate a long protracted trade war if that is in fact on the table?
5) Canadians will not fault PMMC for walking away but given points 3 and 4, the government’s comms strategy requires full transparency and attention to detail in the coming hours - cannot be Howe Bridge 2.0;
6) That includes what plan, if any, there is to provide financial help to hard hit sectors, wage supports, etc., as well as debriefing premiers and opposition leaders at the federal level.

If you're a guest in Canada and you are convicted of a serious crime you should be deported.
It's what the law says.
End two tier justice. One law for all.
