The streets were empty. Everything was dead quiet.

The pandemic was over.

So were the humans.

"The aliens have long since won the war," said the kid. "How are you still so proud, grandpa?"

"We've fought with all we had, and still kept our humanity intact," said the grandpa, his eyes filling up with tears. "It's not about where you end up, it's about how you get there."

And it began, from the future into the past.

"You're late," said the boss. "You have a time machine yet you're late."

He could hear the ticking of the watch on his wrist.

But...

Tock... tick...

Something...

Tock... tick...

Felt wrong...

Tock... tick...

"Are you immortal?" asked the alien.

"No," replied the human.

"Do you have other bodies you can live in?"

"Nope."

"Digital lives?"

"None."

"Then, why don't you live the lives you want to live?"

"It has mutated!" yelped the alien in a panic. "The human virus can now infect other planets!"

The remains found at the excavation site had terrified the androids.

Why didn't the old humans had bones of metal?

The AI wasn't sure what to believe, his own sensors, or the words of humans?
