Congratulations to Peter Bedford MP, the first MP to be elected in the Mid Leicestershire Constituency. As an experienced County Councillor for the past 7 years he has worked hard for his residents. He has the experience to be an effective MP for all the Mid Leicestershire area.
🗣Earlier today I asked ministers what advice they'd give to small and medium sized businesses in 🦊Mid Leicestershire, given the burdens and extra costs being piled on them by the Employment Rights Act. 📜
The response I got back was nonchalant, to say the least. 🤷🏼
Our SMEs are the backbone of our local economy. They deserve a government that understands the pressures they're under; not one that shrugs them off.
This Government is clearly not on the side of the wealth creators.
Businesses in Mid Leicestershire deserve better. 👍🏽
Reform UK’s Leader in Warwickshire @_GeorgeFinch is in trouble.
He’s lost all legitimacy as Leader of the council.
It’s only 3 months since he survived a no-confidence vote by 1.
Now, Councillors Dan Glover and Rob Aitkenhead have defected to Restore Britain.
Let’s not forget that during the no confidence vote 2 Restore councillors abstained. Their voting block is 4 and they won’t be so kind next time.
Finch has lost legitimacy. He should resign before he’s kicked out in disgrace.
In a head-to-head, Britons are now more than twice as likely to believe Kemi Badenoch would be a better prime minister than Nigel Farage, having been divided on the question last summer
Badenoch: 38% (no change from 30 Apr-1 May)
Farage: 17% (-3)

The Treasury Management Strategy was approved by the RUK cabinet in Feb 2026.
Appendix F - Capital Programme 2026-30 approved by RUK cabinet with a £181m gap, a gap of £75m to be covered by borrowing.
Putting the council into more debt. Facts are facts.

I'm one of the @LeicsCC_Cons who is the shadow finance lead; Reform UK is trying to pretend Leicestershire's financial challenges have suddenly disappeared.
The same financial reports that Reform are celebrating also showed:
• A £65 million capital funding gap.
• Up to £60 million of savings still to be delivered.
• A SEND deficit approaching £100 million before Government support.
As Scrutiny Commission highlighted on 10 June, the 2025/26 Outturn Report shows demand remains highly unpredictable across adult social care, children's services and SEND. Yet many of their proposed savings/cuts rely on reducing demand in those very same services.
Hope is not a financial strategy.
Reform promised a treasure chest of easy savings.
They appear to be discovering that the cupboard is largely bare.

Basically, they’ve raided reserves to reduce loans while planning £84m in new borrowing.
Seen it all before. Classic Janet and John, smoke and mirrors con trick.
Don’t fall for it.
Joseph, you are boasting about paying off £26.9m of Leicestershire debt “inherited from the Tories.”
But your own Capital Strategy doesn’t explain how that’s happening or where the money came from.
Meanwhile you’re planning £84m of new borrowing over the next four years. If this is real, publish the accounts that prove it.
Very bad night for @reformparty_uk and they threw everything at the Makerfield election, including the kitchen sink, and still lost.
Brilliant night for the @Conservatives with wins across Britain 🇬🇧
Time to go Nigel, resign.
