This kid did everything in his 23 year old ability to put the @RedSox in a position to win. They pulled him out at 70 pitches and (tell me if you have heard this one before) the bullpen sputtered and the offense was non existent. When these guys are good they are unbeatable; when they are bad, they lose like they have lost all confidence in their abilities.
Why do the @RedSox refuse to call up Kristian Campbell? Are they waiting to deal him next spring to a team that will take his entire contract, in exchange for a few underwhelming pitchers? (Devers trade reference intentional).
I’m calling up Kristian Campbell for David Hamilton, Jhostynxon Garcia for Nick Sogard, and Mikey Romero for Ali Sanchez.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The Sox need a spark.
Connelly Early in his second career start, his second vs the @Athletics. He was magnificent in his debut—hoping for more of that magic tonight from Early. @RedSox
I wouldn’t be reposting this article if it didn’t have Ceddanne Rafaela as the AL front runner for a Gold Glove in centerfield. @RedSox https://t.co/Quk8cDwwGV
Some discourse on here about whether the Red Sox making the playoffs is worth it if they back in.
I don't care what seed they are or who they are playing. If you are in a 3-game series and you have Garrett Crochet, you have a shot.
So yes, it's worth making the playoffs
ESPN is notorious for being not-so-secretive about their love for the NYY. Even with the tv turned down all the way and @SoxBooth on @WEEI with audio, I could still see the Yankee bias through the all their Yankee-friendly replays and the number of times they flashed back to show Aaron Judge’s reaction to just about anything in the dugout. @RedSox
The second outing is usually the one where the cracks show. Connelly Early may be the exception to that rule, though.
After throwing 11 Ks in five innings in his @MLB debut, the energetic 23 year old might shock us all with his next performance. @RedSox#DirtyWater
One of the greatest defensive units ever to play in the outfield. @RedSox Jim Rice, Dwight Evans, and of course, the 1975 MVP and Rookie of the Year, Fred Lynn…#TimWakefieldMemorial@19fredlynn@NESN
And there’s the ‘75 outfield. On the field again.. just a different field. Tim Wakefield Memorial Golf Tournament. @RedSox @nesn Let the game begin. #goodtimes#goodcause
Whitlock is one of the most likable players, choosing to let his performance on the mound do his talking, and always remaining poised no matter what the situation. He’s definitely a credit to the @RedSox.
Maybe the loudest Fenway cheer of the weekend as Whitlock punches out Rosario to finish a 3-K inning after giving up the bullet to Judge to open the frame. I'll say it again. Whitlock the most underrated performer on this team. He has had a monster year.
The Red Sox are not worried about Aroldis Chapmans recent velocity dip over his last four outings.
Andrew Bailey: “It’s a long season. I talked to him today on a little bit of delivery stuff, but nothing crazy. Ebbs and flows of the season. We know he’ll be himself next time out. You take a look at the body of work and it’s like, am I really concerned? No. He feels healthy. He’s reporting great, bouncing back great. Not super concerned about it long-term.”
Alex Cora: “It’s part of the season, man. It’s how it works over 162 games.”
Even Chapman himself said it’s “Nothing” and he “Feels great”
Chapman’s sinker is averaging 97.6 MPH in September, down from 98.8 in August and 100.4 in April.
97.6 would tie the lowest average in any month of his career.
His FB is also down 1 MPH from last month.
