An Iraqi-born man, identified only as CT, has been allowed to remain in Britain despite being denied British citizenship on national security grounds.
Security services revealed he supported the Iraqi insurgency, received terrorist training, was linked to the Islamist extremist group Ansar al-Islam, researched remote-controlled cars and helicopters for possible attacks, radicalized Muslims in Britain, preached hate at a Peterborough mosque, and had criminal links.
Although an earlier immigration tribunal said the allegations had "no foundation," the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC) upheld the Home Office's decision after reviewing secret intelligence that neither CT nor the public is allowed to see.
CT, who has lived in Britain for years and has five children (three of them British citizens), denies all allegations and is understood to still be living in the UK.
Disgusting.
The University of Aberdeen says it is “looking into” comments made by employee Heather Herbert after she publicly celebrated the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe.
Responding to the announcement, Herbert wrote:
“Some good news for once. I hope it was an extremely painful death.”
She then added:
“I hope she was handcuffed to the bed as she screamed in agony.”
A local report says Herbert offered no apology when questioned, while the university confirmed it was examining the matter.
You can disagree with every political position Ann Widdecombe ever held. You can criticise her record, her beliefs and her words. But publicly fantasising about a 78-year-old woman being restrained and screaming in agony is not political criticism. It is grotesque.
The University of Aberdeen now needs to decide whether this conduct meets the standards it expects from somebody publicly identified as one of its employees.
And “looking into it” cannot simply become the usual holding statement until the outrage disappears.

The islamic regime in Iran has tried to murder Salman Rushdie for decades.
As of today, he has outlived both ayatollahs, despite their worst attempts and one almost successful assassination attempt.
They are dead, Salman lives.
Light triumphs over darkness.
LGBT activist Peter Tatchell, who publicly celebrated the brutal murder of Ann Widdecombe earlier today, once argued that a 9-year-old boy can consent to sex with adult men.
These are the voices we are up against. History will not look kindly on him.

Zo ziet die 'vreedzame' Utrechtse Intifada er in de praktijk dus uit. Met z'n allen gezellig oproepen om mensen te verdrinken. Het is onvoorstelbaar, maar het gebeurt hier vanavond gewoon.

"Those Brits are a strange old race. They show affection by abusing each other, will think nothing of casually stopping in the middle of a firefight for a 'brewup' and eat food that I wouldn't give to a dying dog. But fuck me, I would rather have one British squaddie on side than an entire battalion of Spetznaz! Why? Because the British are the only people in this world who when the chips are down and it seems like there is no hope left, instead of getting sentimental or hysterical, will strap on their pack, charge their rifle, light up a smoke, and calmly and wryly grin, 'Well, are we going then you wanker?" 🏴 🇬🇧
Spain has received at least 1.3 million applications from illegal migrants seeking legal status under the largest regularization scheme in European history, more than double the half a million applications the government expected.
Pedro Sánchez has defended the amnesty as an act of justice and says it will boost the economy.
Spain's foreign-born population now exceeds 10 million, around 20.3% of the country's population, the highest share in its history, as the country grapples with an unprecedented wave of violent crime, lawlessless, public disorder, street violence, and a spike in rape crimes.
People still do not get it. Trump saying today that Ukraine will get a license to build Patriot missiles means that Ukraine will get no new Patriots for years. It means Russia can attack Ukraine until 2028 (at the earliest) and Ukraine will get no new interceptors.
For the first time since the 2022 mobilisation, ordinary Russians are scared. Petrol is rationed and Ukrainian drones hit refineries far from the front.
55% now say people around them feel anxious, up from 40% a year ago. The war has reached everyone — The Economist. 1/
