@JayneKirkham4 It will take 10 years to train a GP who starts to train now. Where will you find these 7500 and where will you train these new medical students per year? All this after a closing of the borders to available overseas medical talent which no politician wants to mention?
@JayneKirkham4 And as you know that there is a shortage which will take a long time to address even if training is successfully boosted, why would you 'guarantee' face to face appointments which you're never going to be able to deliver.
@ikingsquare@SaulStaniforth Very.. But still, what I don't understand is that no current junior doctor was a junior doctor in 2008, so not one can claim to have lost the 35% now being demanded. Yes, pay doctors more but even the doctors acknowledge 35% isn't realistic. By all means start high but come on!
@PhilWil83043934@BladeoftheS The test and trace where virtually all money went on testing? Maybe we should have let covid do it's thing, save a load of money and we'd now have less people to treat.
So clearly Lucy Ward came into the City Bayern game with the thought that Bayern would frustrate City. City have been comfortable and mde 4 or 5 chances in 20 mins but apparently have no control... Having said it 3 or 4 times ??? @btsport
@BBCWorld@sainsburys now openly market them in store like they are mobile phones with big aspirational pictures. For the gov't to say they aren't promoted to kids is nonsense
@BBCSport There's that 'tantalising glimpse of the future' which @philmcnulty and other bbc journalists were a little too keen to proffer after 45 mins vs a side who'd given up.
@bbc5live@NickyAACampbell Childcare is an issue but let's not compare the UK to other countries, such as Sweden.... Where the income tax rate is ridiculously high and starts at over 30% for all and has a population about the same as London so isn't so tightly populated. .
@JeremyVineOn5 can't believe that in a discussion about the wealthy paying tax in the UK @stormhuntley has just held up James Dyson on #jeremyvineextra as someone who should be applauded for his foundation... After offshoring his business to Singapore
@sweeternigel@SkyNews@UKLabour A pledge that is easy to make though isn't what Rachel Reeves said and I don't think Starmer's NHS reform call was based around mass recruitment. With so many NHS vacancies, and so many across other industries where does this magically come from or funded from?
@sweeternigel@SkyNews But Labour's plan seems to be be have a max vaccination push and spend no more money. Loss of staff to Brexit, covid pressures and impossible to deal with waiting times for treatment. Unless the next gov't will reopen the UK to European medical staff, what does a GE get you?
@stevebishop92 @dbcoope75412696 @DanielaNadj Nope, but times have changed since 2016. We now have hospitality and NHS on its knees, battered by a Covid and an inability to staff it. Its time that politicians admit we don't have the land of milk and honey Leave promised. They need to look to revise freedom of movement.
@__Darling_ She did seem to say that she would be funding it all by withdrawing non-dom status.... But that's not enough to fund much and probably won't result in a massive tax take as those people will arrange their tax affairs differently. Her only actually policy seemed to be more jabs.
@__Darling_ You didn't. As the NHS pension is generous, the annual contribution to their pensions is often way over the £40k pa limit and then over the £1.1m total value so the tax they then have to pay makes it not worthwhile continuing. Think she was suggesting removing the cap for them.
