I have said for years that HISA is an unfunded mandate from the federal government that forces racetracks, horsemen, horseplayers & taxpayers (depending on the state)to pay its ridiculously expensive fees.

The federal government should fund HISA. @ChurchillDowns has taken a courageous stand that I hope leads to a better solution for the #HorseRacing industry than the current broken funding model.

I hate funerals but paid my respects to @RacewayFreehold this afternoon for its finale. First went there in Jan. 1986 when I was 19. It was cold, there was no grandstand, and I loved it. Many fun visits thereafter. The “Afternoon Delight” will be missed but never forgotten.
