🦄YOU STEPPED ON A UNICORN!😱 Exclaimed good friend @MikeHeter when I confessed I backed over rare in cultivation Lycoris chinensis (Golden Spider Lily, Naked Ladies) as I captured 1st set of pics posted. Thankfully a 💪tough lady, staked for a day & now healed! Amaryllidaceae
POISE! Reblooming TB Iris 'Autumn Breeze' (Mike Sutton, 2012) is a tall drink of cool water at 42", with gigantic, 7" wide open-centered flowers on impressive stalks. Rated reliable for 2+ Fall rebloom cycles Zone 5, plant has become massive - hoping this is my year!🤞Iridaceae
🔥ON FIRE! Deciduous Rhododendron (Exbury Azalea) 'Gibraltar' (de Rothschild, 1947;🏆ARS Rhododendron of the Year, 2007) really carries in evening light. My collection of deciduous Rhodies had to be rebuilt after the 2012 Derecho, many were smashed by falling trees.😱 Ericaceae
Some perfect blooms on my white #dicentraspectabilis, aka #BleedingHearts because of their drooping heart-shaped flowers. Normally seen in pink, my white ones really light up a shady corner. A fabulous #perennial - every #garden needs some! 💚 #floweroftheday via @gardentags
I brought my #cactus collection out for some #sun today because I am trying to get them acclimated before they move outside full time. Just trying to be a good #plantdaddy to #cacti
