2016 election was dominated by the Cambridge Analytica scandal and the DNC leaks which were hacked and provided to WikiLeaks by the Russian intelligence agency GRU.

2020 election is remembered from the Hunter Biden/Burisma scandal, and it was recently found out that one of the key figures, Alexander Smirnov, driving the scandal is closely connected to Russian intelligence agencies. He also lied to the FBI several times and allegedly attempted to flee the US with the help of his lawyers.

2024 election seems to be focusing on the "persecution" of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine and so-called Christian Nationalism where Trump has a strong voter base. The campaign is funded by Russian oligarch, Vadim Novynskyi, who was also a close ally of Yanukovych.

Novynskyi has hired a lawyer named Robert Amsterdam (who also represents one @KimDotcom) to defame Ukraine's leaders for the "persecution" of Orthodox church in Ukraine that is closely connected to Russian intelligence agencies. Incidentally, Amsterdam was also interviewed by @TuckerCarlson about this back in Oct 2023. Naturally, during his visit in Kyiv, Amsterdam would only speak to Kremlin-friendly media for maximum propaganda effect.
